2 Things, BAD Range, NiMH Battery

Hi

Ok I got my Bit Char-G a few months ago.

Its a 27mhz so the rane is terrible (2 meters)

I opend the control to see if there was the criple capacitor.... and there wasnt one in there

So I had a look on the PCB board and there was one... so I removed it.... didnt make any diff to the range

So I finnaly got around to getting some new wire for the arial and OHHH MY GOD it worked... I got almost another meter

Is there anyother ways to get better range out of a 27mhz.

------------------

Now I also got a 120 NiMH battery.

Is there a special way your supoed to charg them becasue I still only get the same running time as the stock NiCD battery.

On the controller, use a telescopic antenna and/or modify to use another battery (for higher voltage)...This will strengthen the signal going to the car

Yes, it's a higher capacity therefore you have to charge it for longer...Since the standard controller is timed for 45 seconds, take the car off and put it right back on and do 2 or 3 consecutive charges.

how do you guys run your cars with huge wires sticking out of the top? they are so topheavy like that. if you want your car to run right loosly coil the antenna and tape it over the heat sink. if you get crappy range after that go buy a cheap clone and transplant your pcb. thor racers and thunderbolts are totally compatable with tomy controllers.

Hogs, do you think that some thin enamelled copper wire would make a good aerial? Circled under the car body? u could get a real nice length under there!

probably. i dont worry about that. i just stuff the stock one under the body so it doesnt rub any moving parts and i get 15foot.

about the pot... i did tune that but it just got worse... so thats out of it..

Just trying to find a telescopic antena to use.

There isnt many places in Adelaide Australia that i can think of that would sell the higher mAh battery from..... Hint Hint.. any Ausies know where to get some...

The origainal stock antena is still attached its just inside under the pcb board.

I think ill look for a higher freq car and use that one as a spare

...2 wires is not that heavy lets have a race 35ft. does your car have that distance...not all my cars have 2wires just 1 with no range its not top heavy and not as heavy as 2 or3 cells.. my supra can go about 40 ft with 2 wires and no crip comp...if your in pittsburg pa than uour close...
