use the stock tires on linoleum. putting tape on your wheels will further reduce traction. hard tires will have less traction as well.

they are all related right? more volts means greater current. besides, test your Nimhs, even if they're labeled 1.2 volts they put out 1.5 - same as alkalines.

these cars do have breaks. as do most hobby grade ESCs. it isn't a mechanical brake, it's an electromagnetic drag on the motor but it slows the car and can lock the wheels up on loose surfaces.
