New track iea, by me
I wanted to build a track, and I thought it would be cool to have a banked oval track, like one off of the nascar circuit. Anyone done this before, or thought of it?

Oval racing
Hello All, I'm a big oval racing fan, current track is a 4' X 8' oval with 11 /1/2" lanes, we can run 5 cars at one time, 4 Shen's at usual frequencies and Motor Works at 49mhz. We find this to be a lot of fun, flat out racing, banging doors, bumping guys in the corners and spinning them out, I don't know what you hear more laughing or swearing, but its all in fun. Its alot of fun trying to setup someone for a pass by running high going into a corner and then cutting to the bottom to dive under them coming out going in to the next straightaway. I've thought about the banked turn thing for awhile and have come up with 2 options that I plan to persue. First is some type of large "bowl" that could be cut in half to form two continuous 180 degree banked turns, kinda like Bristol for you NASCAR folk out there. Current best choice is a 5' diameter fiberglass satellite dish that this friend of mine isn't using any more. Cut it in half and add a couple of long straight aways using MDF or foamcore. Second option is to make them out of solid foam, I found plans online to make custom foam cutters using a furnace burner transformer and some easily available parts. By anchoring one end of the cutter it will allow you to swivel it while maintaining a consistent arc. They make large closed-cell foam blocks for use in building docks and such which should work perfectly for this type of application. I'm sure their are lots of handbuilt ways that you could also accomplish this but I don't have the time or patience to tackle those options. Good Luck with your track, I look forward to see what others come up with for ideas. Regards, Szandor

wow, sounds great, I aint got exactly any ideas, but today, I was driving my clone with my microsizer axel/wheels/tires on a formica (sp?) bar area, and for the first time ever, it did wheelies! it was great! But any way, I was thinking that it would be a great surface for a track, maybe oval or what ever, but it would probably be very difficult to do.
Man, what a disappointment the Daytona 500 was today! I hate rain, cuz Harvick was gonna win lol.... but go Mikey!!
For my fellow NASCAR fans ^!
