KIT rear axles...question

i recently bought one and put it on my bit..
i used their 2.2 motor and their gear set..
the 2.2 motor uses a white "cam"....
and for some reason it just locks up and doesnt go after a while because of well..it just does
if i spin the wheels with my hands, i can FEEL it get stuck...
how the heck do i fix that to where is constantly runs?
i already tried to replace the cam with a black one, it didnt help...
i also used it on my other motors..it didnt help either...

is it just their gears ?

Considering the KIT sets are basically the same as the Bit Racers...did you make the PROPER adjustments, as described here?:

ummm...heh yep the cutting of the spacer was obvious...
i did that even before i read the link [of which i read a long time ago too]

but there just seems to be a problem with the gears, not the fitting...
the link says to use the white cams...and i am...but just doesnt work well....

Try taking the motor out and then spinning the wheels. If it's still super-tight without the motor, you know the problem is between the idle gear and the axle.

If it spins freely, then the problem is between the Motor gear and idle gear.

See what I'm sayin?

hmm...yep it was the gear, where it makes contact with the motor....
still dunno how to figure it out...
wd40 did nothing

i tried it in the KIT car itself...and well...it worked.. ;/..not sure if its the spacing and that the motor is slightly farther...i have no idea...i just need to get new rear axles ;/

Don't bother to much with it. And yes, you do need the white pinion gear or "cam" for the KIT gear set. I tried both the red and green set from the KIT set and they really stink inside my Bits. They don't deliver any torque...

Oh and I almost forgot to mention that the run time was cut to less then half with those gears in...

You have to remember that the KIT Racers gears are setup based on the thought of being run in a slotted track, no stopping and going...Just PURE top speed. Heck, people probably give the cars a quick push at the start to get them going too (even less need for torque).

I just picked up a couple of KIT racers this weekend. After the axle mod I installed the blue gears in my Microsizer. The problem you're talking about is a gear mesh issue with the pinion and the "outer" spur gear. The "inner" spur gear and the axle gear mesh perfectly. The gap between the white 7T pinion and the "outer" spur gear is too big. It appears that you can trim some plastic in the motor well and shim the rear of the motor to correct the mesh but I'm afraid to try it because the stock gears may strip if the mesh is too close. Anybody got a good solution to this?

James

I tried the plastic trimming thing and it works great. The stock gears still work as well so everything appears to be good. It only needed a little shaving with a hobby knife to correct the mesh problem. I don't know if this will work for everybody, since I'm sure there's some tolerance differences between cars.

if ya can't get your KIT axles to run in your bit, try you KIT in the bathtub...its soo much fun if you have the right kind of bathtub.
Mine works well with that plastic front axle, bit char-g hards (blue) in the back and a 2.6. The thing can zip around the bathtub and air over the water spigot!
