Motor Cleaning tips
5 tips to help you keep your motor running like new!
1. MOST IMPORTANT!!! When you buy a new motor break it in by running a few charges through it then drive carefully for two more charges then let it rip!
2. Clean off shaft by the gear. (take gear off then use tweezers to pull off dirt)
3. Lube the ends of the motor sparingly using WD40 or oil. You can also use dry lubrication. (Wipe up after yourself!)
4. Try not to switch directions of the motor quickly or constantly.
5. Don't overload the motor.
Have fun use motors that run like new!

I am with you on this one hogjowlz....
What no sudden forward to reverse or wheelies or anything? Geeez what fun are you having with your cars? Clean and ad oil all of the time? Geeez just run the $5.00 motors into the ground then buy a few more.

I mean like run in reverse for a while and slam it forwards. All motor experts don't recommend sudden direction changes. I didn't break in my 3.0 and now it is slower. I still haven't done the WD40 yet but it worked fine on my 1.0!

ive yet to have a good motor fail on me. ive had a few that had issues from the start. but none that developed problems down the road.
my "pink clone motor" has put 5 or 10 cars to their grave and it still runs strong.

Hey its reccomended by RCCA so trust me on this one! It will slightly decrease the motor by doing that but it is still going to die. This is mainly for people that run r-spec and other high performance motors in dual and triple cell cars. If you run quad cell expect your motor to die all of a sudden!

what is rcca? ask any mechanical or electrical engineer about this and they will chuckle at you.
4.8v is higher than recommended voltage for that motor so ya it will probably develop problems.
do you run 4.8v to your pod racer?

I will probably try to make a motor with ball bearings in the ends and in the axle, too!

I break them in a little by just setting them on the charger and running it for about 1 minute. And then in the car the go and that's it!
