Microsizers Fighting With Bit_char_g
i got this article from qfm.com for those of you wondering, i am upset right now that i was thisL: TableTopRacers informed us that Hobbico Microsizers have arrived in the US but are believed to delayed in US Customs! We are very anxious to see the actual street pricing of these cars, as the 49mhz will be a must for all Bit Hobbyists! Meanwhile, Hobbico has been tactfully expressing disapproval of the sales of BitChar-Gs, by its potential retailers in the US, warning of seizure and confiscation of stock as well as fines, due to violations of FCC regulations. so i guess we wont be gettign anymore bits from japan anymore

That's exactly what I understood, and that's why I'm upset. It's just another way of pushing more RULES on America!!! We can only race with 27mhz or 49 mhz in America because of some stupid rules, well SCREW THAT!!!

As long as eBay is around, they will never stop the flow of Bits into this country regardless of what freq. they operate on. It would be a bigger issue if the Bit Tx produced any real signal power but at the point they can barely transmit 25 feet, the FCC isn't going to spend any time trying to stop Bits being imported here.
I will buy Microsizers if they are of the same quality as Tomys. If I can walk into a LHS and drop $40 on the counter and walk out with product, I'm in.
I believe it will only be a matter of time until Microsizers have the same number of available freqs that Tomy has. There is plenty of bandwidth out there for everyone.

Redmond Hobbies (redmondhobbies.com) got a big box of MicroSizers in on Friday so I guess they cleared customs. They were selling them for $39 and the BitCharG's (they only had one left) for $45 I think.

p.s - anyone know how to stop my wrx with a 2.6 motor from doing donuts (spins) everytime i turn.

MTL,
If I'm not mistaken, and I'm sure I'll be corrected if I am, the FCC has designated 27 MHz and 49 MHz as the ONLY 2 frequencies for RC cars in the United States. The reason more than 2 cars can race at a time (1/10 scale) is that they operate on sub-frequencies within these two (i.e. 27.125, 27.5, or 49.375). I guess the crystals used in Bit Char-G's aren't as precise as those used in high-end RC and therefore do not support the sub-frequencies.
That's my fact/theory? Anyone else have any idea?

i think thats correct. IF you go to any r/c store, take a look at the radio/crystel sets. They have 27. something or 49. something i remember my box saying my magnum is 49.25 something, but my radio says75.9

I'm with you. I know my Desktop Rover Tank runs on 27.195 MHz. You can run 4 tanks at the same time and they all operate on 27 MHz so they must use sub freqs. The cool part is my tank don't interfere with my 27 MHZ Bit so we can run both at the sme time. The tank has the luxury of more real estate under the hood so I guess they can design Rx\Tx freqs that need less band separtation.

sneuburg, you are correct, only 27MHz, 49MHz and 75MHz are allowed for surface AM use. Use of any other BC-G frequency is in fact a blatant violation of FCC laws; while it's unlikely that anyone would get caught given the BC-G's short range, if it interfered with any kind of emergency frequency, you can bet that you'd be in big trouble if you got caught. However, the FCC is mainly going after the vendors, and they can seize your entire inventory. In addition, companies such as Honda are going after BC-G sellers, because they say that BC-G bodies aren't licensed in the US unless they are from MicroSizers.
