Why I buy clones

I buy clones, not for the awesome quality, but for different body styles, parts and controllers.

I recently bought a Dodge Ram clone that came with a remote that contains a 9V battery. The range is great!. It works with my Microsizer, exept the Forware/Reverse are backwards.

LOL, my first clone I got ripped off on, because I was "uneducated", the second one was a parts car

My prefered clone is the Rally Racer/ Shen clone brand. I prefer this clone for a few reasons:

- Cheaper (usually $10 or so)

- Rear chassis tab is thicker (doesn't crack like on a MicroSizer).

- black PCB cover ("J" tabs don't break off like MS's- and looks cooler!)

- Usually come with a hotter motor.

- Front wheel axles aren't knurled (makes it easier to remove the front wheels).

- Tires are MUCH softer (for much better traction).

By far the best quality bodies are the Tomy and MicroSizers, though. The pull-back Trueno & 2000 GT-R bodies that I got today in the mail from ToyEast ROCK!!!!!!!

My 2 cents,
John

I buy clones because I'd rather experiment, destroy and mod a cheap clone than a (more) expensive MS or Bit.. Being in Canada means that MS/Bit's are easily twice as much as any clone offered.

noxorc; that's cool... I've always wondered if someone would make a controller w/ a 9V and now we know. My epoch controller uses a 9V and the range is excellent too, it's one of the best things about it I think. What brand clone is it?

Buying clones is like playing roulette. I've gotten good and bad ones from the same brand. I have to admit, though - the Shen's are the best clones I've seen. I have a shen with a Land Rover body (long story) that will pull wheelies, climb over stuff, and go on carpet like a bat out of hell, and it's a single cell. Was going to post a pic, but can't get the camera away from my bro. Maybe tomorrow. It looks sweet.

In my opinion, Cyclona cars are the best. When I got my Panther Ferrari F360 clone, I raced against a person with a Cyclona Honda S2000. Before even the first curve, the Cyclona was a foot ahead of me. By, the finish the Cyclona was 2 feet ahead of me [because I caught up on one curve].

I like my shen and Cyclona clones because they do everything a regular Bit or a Microsizer does, and I paid WAY less!

Then I used the extra money I saved to buy MS upgrade kits and K.I.T. Racers, and all kinds of cool stuff that have made these cars uniquely my own.

Once you start modding, comparisons are useless anyway.

I buy clones to replace the PCBs in my bits/microsizers The shen PCBs are much more responsive and accelerate much quicker than the tomy PCBs.

I'm about to go pick up a clone from Wal-Mart later today (can't wait for the real thing to come in lol), which do you guys suggest? I don't want to spend more than $12 since I have a real one with the goodies coming in a week.

Porsche, Ferrari, Cooper Mini...

Exactly my point, I wish Tomy would offer a wider range on car body styles. There choices are not my first.

I would buy a Ferrari clone just for the body.

I agree with Johnrste list completely.
