Home Made Charger- Looks Good ..Wont Charge
Hey people ...I followed the instructions on how to make a home made charger so that i could save some battery cost. I followed the instructions posted by Namuna ( Props to you ....Very detailed instructions). The problem is the charger wont CHARGE. The LED will come on ( and off after a flick of the switch)...the Charging station is well sodered and connected. HECK even the LED will go OFF when the car is mounted.
I try giving it a "test" (attempting to accelerate while on charger the same way i do when its on the controller) and NO dice. Has anyone had this problem? If you can help id really appreciate it.
Tiny R/C.com is NICE! Nothing but compliments for the design and organization of the site.

Im using these instructions for the mod and it seemingly works ( LED lights up and goes off when car is mounted on charger) except THE CAR WONT CHARGE. But the car will charge when on the controller. I checked the positive and negative wires and everything is dead on.
Heres a question: Which side is the positive contact on UNDER THE CAR?
Perhaps thats why it hasnt charged ( positive to positive negative to negative contact isnt established).
If someone can answer that question and that turns out to be the problem ill send em some MS/Bit pieces that i scored for free from the hobby store. 2 full BB Honda truck and RX7 ( the yellow sports car) cars that DONT run but have all the parts to them ( probably burned motor or something...havent tested tehm yet as i have a few other working cars to mod). Just ask what part you want ...btw they are 49mhz vehicles ( both).

Have you checked the car itself??? Maybe you have a loose battery wire or a broken one. Charge it on the stock Controller and see if it charges.

heres a thought. does your toggle have 2 legs or 3? the reason I ask is because some toggles have a third common leg that basicallly allows the toggle to work one way or the other.
also did you use the specific toggle that is spec'd for that project? possibly you used a momentary toggle?
just thoughts Im throwin out here, would be helpful to see close up shots of your wiring if thats possible.
you can also have a break in one of the wires, check continuity across your wire leads with volt/ohm meter and see if you have cont.
me bets thats where the trouble lies.
