sharper image hummer
received sharper image cars 3 weeks ago and really like them!
surprisingly the 49mhz is a little slower than the 27mhz. great turning and great speed! worth the money!

do you mean the 49mhz chasis uposed to the 27mhz chasis in speed? or do you mean the delay in controler reaction time.

higher frequency has nothing to do with speed. it is easier for higher frequency waves to travel through the air, hence you get a further range which makes your car easier to control.

The thing that effects the range on your car the most is the interfering equipment in your house. I have a 57mhz and it has a 6 ft range, my 27mhz car gets 12ft and my 49mhz microsizer that has a legal frequency gets 16ft. I think the illegal frequcies have really poor range because they are not ment for use in the US. If i went to japan, I bet the 49mhz car would poor range.

49 is the 2nd standard frequency for US radio controlled items. Most radio controlled toys come in 27 and 49 only.
I don't see why your 49 would run worse in japan than over here in the USA. And I also don't think any of these frequencies are "illegal." They are "non-standard." There's a difference.

I also bought the set of Sharper Image Bensu clones. I really like them. Have you seen all the extra room for extra batts in the PCB bay? I could easily hide 2 additional batts without any carving to the chassis.
Yesterday I threw in a NOS motor and roughed up the slick tires some and the thing flies and handles great. It's also the best car I've ever seen on thick carpet (matted down). Must be the ground clearance it has. After the DigiQ, these are in my top 3.
I also agree that one is slower then the other. Everything looks to be the same. If I had to guess what the problem was, I'd say it's the SSR body. It's way too tight and may be pushing the motor too close to the gears or notice the front tires spin much better on the H2.

your right sorry they are not illegal but you said it yourself

I have a 35mhz car gets a much smaller range in school where they have a WiFi network than at home where I get more than twice that. My 27mhz car and 49mhz car both are uneffected by the network.

What I heard is that at 57mhz you can go farther with less power than the same amount of power at 27mhz. For instance if you used 100 watts to broadcast a 57mhz signal it would go farther than if you used 100 watts to broadcast a 27mhz signal. Although you would have to take into account that the 27mhz will be more suseptable to interferance becasue the wave legnth is so far apart. This is what some one told me this is not from my head i am just the middle man.

my 57mhz gets 10-15 foot range with the antenna taped above the pcb/engine mount. most of my 49mhz get about the same. one gets about 6foot. both 27mhz cars i have owned got 6-10 foot with the antenna sticking up.
