Polyurethane clear coat
hey, ive tried painting my car with this over and over. I wanted to know why it cracks. Is it because i paint too thick, or too thin? I got my hood done pretty well, but i forgot how i painted it. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Well, without getting too involved: if you're getting the cracks after using the car I'd say that the clear coat that you're using probably dries too hard, and cracks when your body flexes.
If you're getting the "cracks" immediately upon applying the coat, it means that the undercoat and overcoat are incompatible paint types. I really hate this, as it usually means you have to start over and finish with a different protective coat.
I highly recommend Future Floor Wax (thinned with water) or Krylon as good overcoats. Hope this helps.

thanks for the help. I remembered somethign i used in woodshop. I remember we had to paint THINLY and use the fine sand paper to smoothen it out, and redo it for 3 coats. I think i did somethin similar to the hood, so ima try that on the whole thing. If that dont work its, cuz theyre not compatible.
