are bits really the king daddy?

ok on another forum myself and another user discussed that bits are the end all and be all over any other micro rc.

are bits really that far superior to all clones? dont most clones come with faster motors? i cant imagine a bit handling better than my cyclona. And dont bits tend to only have 10foot range?

I dont know i havent realy experienced many cars but I think BCG are the best.

ohw about u buy a bit and find out for yourself

(clones come with telescoping antenna giving them more range a bit with that antenna is just great, when i us emy clone controller for y bit the range is unbelievable, u can do that(telescoping antenna) mod at www.questformadness.com. And i thought bits couldnt be better, boy was i wrong

im not gona go out and spend twice as much for something that is not any better than what i already have. most people on this board say that bits are the best because they are the original but cant really back it up with any performance numbers. how fast does a bit with a 3.8 do 10 feet? come on you guys gota have a stopwatch and a tape measure.

I just picked up the clone (Motor Works) from WalMart and have to say I'm very impressed. Handling is the best I've seen (other then the Zips) and the other features blew me away. The rear axle is actually screwed in. Meaning a plastic plate is what holds it in. That means those that like Bits, but hate when their axle keeps slipping out, wouldn't have that problem with these. The rear axle is interchangeable though. The tires are very soft and out of the box, it's the fastest car I've seen. The LXX with the 3.0 held that title until today. This car hums compared to the LXX's rattling. The bodies are fantastic. Little overspray on the windows though. If you don't want the painted ones, they also come clear. I purchased the Truck and SUV. I don't know what type they are, but they're both American cars. And I love clones that come with LEDs. This car had it all. The rims are cheapies and the motor is soldered in, but those are two mods I'd be willing to change for the price of $14. It still doesn't handle near as well as my Zip, so this car will probably become my #1 PCB donor for my ZZ's. I imagine for $14 I just scored one hell of a motor too!

Oh, I almost forgot. It comes with a seperate charging station. I like this cos' it would leave my remote battery life longer keeping my range. I can see it would also be pretty easy to turn it into an AC charging station too. Best clone I've scored to date! Couple more days and my Sharper Image ones should be here.

To a certain extent, for me anyway, it's about perception and name branding.

The Tomy Bit Char-G is the original (magnet steering) Microscale car. Everyone else is pretender to the throne (whether they make an inferior or superior product).

<shrug> it's all good, if you find a kick-butt clone...Go for it.

erm im not riding flying or takign a train just to settle this

i dont even know why people continue clones are just for people who cant afford bits thas honestly what they are for. Im not saying people who have clones are poor, but all a clone is, is like a Saab compared to a mercedes. Saabs are quick but mercedes not only are quick, but they have great handeling. thats that its over just buy a bit like the rest and find out how great they are for yourself, you can buy one for only 14 bucks(shipping not includd) fron toyeast and its the skyline history set, not a bad deal.

Well, after I get done mod'ing any of them, you can't tell what the heck it is. Even I don't know, so....I guess you can say I make my own clones with the help of other clones which I find in the end are superior to all Bits AND clones. My clones aren't bastards, but each one of them would have a hard time telling you who it's daddy was. They consider me the man behind the curtain.

But....
if you really want to know who that daddy is when it comes to sales, it's the Bits. They've sold more then any other car. This includes the sales of Microsizers seeing how it's the same company. Zips just might take that lead after they get faster on their shiptments.

Was it the one from Motor Works from WalMart? I'm really lovin' this car. I honestly can't see paying double for a Bit that may just be just a slight improvement. Now DIGI-q's look to be a great car. I still haven't bought one of those. Mainly cos' the cost will prevent me from ripping it open and mod'ing it.

I hate leaving things alone.

sometimes speed is not everything. And I'm sure TOMY has a purpose for limiting the range of the BITs in the Japanese market. Zips are selling really fast too in the US. It has an attraction to US car lovers due to the US car bodies that the Bits don't have. But worldwide(overall), TOMY is on the top.

I really like real Bits, either from Tomy or MS, but the Tomy bodies are more varied. I laugh my @ss off when people start getting all name brand and snobby when it comes to this micro RC hobby. Didn't people get into this because they were "cheap" and really neat? Sure some clones are a waste of plastic, but there are many high quality clones that have better than average quality control. I have bought real Bits from Japan, and these cars were generally good, but I have got a few that were very stubborn and needed the front end twisted (thanks cyborgzero!) in order to steer decently. Now paying 35+ bucks for a Bit from Japan you'd think I'd get a really good one out of the box right? But sometimes things just happen.

Panther and Shen Qi Wei clones are the best out there IMHO (the range is better than LXX) and the cars generally steer even left and right. All parts will interchange with real Bits. The turning radius can be tweaked with different tires (that you'd end up changing on your bit if you're going to race anyways).

Real Tomy and MS and better clones are originally made to be played with in asia. This explains the crappy range. In Japan groups of salary men race each other on the same floor in the same room sometimes. Can you imagine charging your car for the next race and then some other guy's controller starts running your charge down even though the guy is in the room next door! That's why most little square controllers have crappy range unless modded.

So to sum it all up,, If I were selling you 2 cars, one was a real bit that came with a slow motor and crappy range, $30. or a clone car that was fast and had incredible range and cost $15 or less. Gee which one would you buy? (if body type is not important)
