Great find....
I was wondering whether these color codes include the clones as well. Looks like it.
P.S. I wonder why RED is listed (21,500), and NOS (yellow), is listed here as 24,000, not 23,500.
If this is true...I'm a happy camper, since the clones I have use pink, and I picked up KIT racers on sale and one of them has an orange! I read a post about the KIT racers, and the numbers listed on this site don't match what the post said.

Color
Yes most manufacturers use the same color to keep a certain standard in their motors. Our casings and endcaps are sourced from a major electric motor manufacturer and the custom designed internally. So you really can't go by color all the time, its really about how effectively the motor is making power. My 2.4 motor is the same or slightly faster than a Tomy 2.2. This is due to the design of the motor. If you notice, DKS motors use up more of the casing than Tomy motors. I will open a Tomy to see if for sure our magnets are bigger

24,000- 23,500 same thing since these things are rated + or - 2000 rpm!
Maybe RS couldn't get the NOs to get at their fully 24000 rpm because their PCB doesn't provide enough juice. so they dropped their number???
in any case! I take it this people wont sell to the public?? Is there a vendor available? and where are those 3.8s comming from?

hmmmm
what color are the 3.8s?
And since we are on the topic of motors, can someone explain why a motor that's speced at 21,500 RPM, would go faster sending 2.4 V to it instead of the normal 1.2 V? If it is speced for 21,500 at 1.2 V, then I would understand.
Or is it that a 21,500 motor in a ZZ never hits 21,500 due to lack of power, so doing a dual battery mod bring the motor up to spec.
Anyone?

Hello, wild03. I am new to this forum. I have bought motors from this company and they do indeed sell to the public. There is a catch though. You have to buy at least $100 worth and they charge $2.00 each (regardless of RPM/color). So, that means you will end up with at least 50 motors in your mailbox.
All of them worked fine in my zips, except the higher RPM motors (31,000 and 34,000) were not as fast as the lower RPM motors (28,000 and less) when paired with the red or green gears. I found that the 26,000 and 28,000 worked very well with green gears and gives good competition for a red-red or yellow-red set up. I haven't modded any of my zips yet and I am sure this would help a lot.
Another thing to note is that the company does not provide the black motor pinion gear. I had to hunt all over Vancouver, WA for hobby shops that sold the BitChar suspension and Gear sets as they come with an extra three. I couldn't find and online supplier of the pinion gear, oh well its just money. Anyway I hope this helps and this is a great forum!!

Thanks for the info. It'll be nice if someone would buy these things and sells then for $5 or something I'll be more than happy to buy this things for 5 bucks....Say they sell them at twice their cost at 4 bucks and $1 for shipping. I wonder why people are not doingthis on e-bay already?
The reason that the higher RPM motors are performing poorly might be due to the ZZ board not providing the required juice. If you are willing to mod you can try the transistor MOD thay I have on my page, you don't have to use the 4.5v battery pack I used, but a regular Zip or Bit battery, This was the original idea. to use like a 38,000 rpm motor and a extra Zip battery.
The transistor will allow direct connection from the extra battery and the motor. Making a hell of a dragster!!
Also this mod will not affect your Zip in any way, shape, or form.
Just clamp the mod on the zip, and clamp if off to bring it back to stock!

Have fun!
