using a large capcitor to drain the batt?
hey guys. I have another tech question for those engineers out here, i know you are there.
you know when you are at the end of a charge and how it takes forever to make the bat run out by moving the forwards and backwards button and slowly trickling the batt to it's last drop?
how about taking a large capacitor, and hooking it up to it at that stage? by my counts that should suck the last bit of NRG from it and you can charg it up again with out worry of memory on the NICD bat right??
I am thinking of solder the large capacitor the charge station and when the switch is on the off postion have the capacitor activated..
am i right or has the solder fumes got to me??

You will need a resistor, not a capacitor. Be careful not to over-discharge the battery. It can kill the cell. If you usually run down the battery on the car. Just flip the car over, or lift the wheels off the ground and run it until the wheels don't spin anymore. This is far safer than discharging with a resistor, as you have a lesser chance of over discharging.

but it takes soooooo long..
yeah, i was talking about draining the batt that way, turning it upside down and take the back and forward controls to town. but it takes forever. I just want one thing to suck enough juice out. i've never heard of over discharging. in all my years. oh well

Actually the receive will drain the battery pritty good just by sitting there. The power doubler/stablizer is a pirtty good drain on the battery.
Try this. Charge up the car. And with a clock see how long before by just having it sit there, its dead.
The only bit, a clone at that, is a cheep one from TRU for 13 dollars last a long time if not moving.

NiCd's are very sensitive to over discharging. When you over discharge a battery, the poles on the cell can become reversed. Causing the negative terminal to become positively charged, and no, you can't just flip the battery around.
