Anyone use the 4-band Booster controller?

I want to buy a booster car, I'm either picking up the Auto Modelista set or a 4-band controller and booster set. The 4-band controller looks like it's much better than the booster controller that comes with the Auto Modelista set. Anyone use it? Comments/complaints?

i use it and like it. it looks pretty lame, but the buttons have a better feel than the stock controllers.

you can also drive one car and charge another which is kinda cool.

the stupid purple charger cover is annoying, as you cant charge a car and set the controller down with out the cover getting in the way. sometimes it can knock the car off if you arent careful.

the standard booster controllers suck. the boost button is just slapped onto the top of a normal controller, and it feels awkward.

Thanks for the info man. Sucks though...there was a 4-band AND booster chassis on ebay for $20 shipped. I came and asked about it here, went back and someone already scooped it up.

Oh well...I'm still gonna get one anyway.

I think it was me who scooped it out from under you, Sorry guy. I have been researching and I came across it on Ebay. I wasn't about to pass it up for that price. In the description he said it turns a little to the left, It may be the steering magnet is out of line. I will let you know how it goes.

for booster cars, you might also want to consider the fairlady. it seems to be faster than my other (older) booster chassis, although this may very well be due to luck of the draw. looks pretty sharp. it comes with the nice looking but sucky using standard 1 band booster controller.

Toguter is right, the 350Z is the best car I have. It can take sharper turns and run faster than any of my other booster machines, but the feeling of the 4Ch controler is superior to the stock one. You should get both of them and with the CAT 5 antena mod I run it 35' to 40' with the 4Ch controler.

Here is a pic of my collection

Just playin' man...nice catch. I have a feeling the steering can be easily corrected. Again...no hard feelings.

i have a 4 band controller, with a hard antenna and a cat5 antenna on my car. The range is horrible, only 2ft. I took the cripple capacitor out of my stock controller and i have good range now.

but, of course, my frend TheFanMan had one (he broke) that gave him 50 ft of range on his rx7. So i dunno...i dont use mine anymore.

The 4-band controller is really not for the US audiences (or UK / Australia for that matter). There are only two legal frequences for the USA -- 27 and 49. The 40 and 49 Mhz frequencies are not available for use in Japan which is why the controller does not support them.

My personal opinion of the 4-band controller is that the form factor is far superior to the standard controller, but it's bizarre having 2 D-pads. My fingers tend to want to use the forward/backward control for right and left, too! It's quite a bit more comfortable to use and less fatiguing. I also don't feel so concerned about breaking the buttons like I do on the standard controller.

The range is pretty poor. I find that the dead spots are considerably larger for the 4-band controller than the standard controller, probably because the antenna is quite a bit shorter. I'm looking into some workarounds that might help in that arena.

yeah ive heard that some people have poor range with their 4bands. mine seems to be ok, although certain cars seem to get better range than others. my 27Mhz booster chassis gets a good 25 feet or so stock(both controller and car). and my Z gets about half that(also stock).

Yeah I've heard several complaints about the range. This isn't something fixable with a new antenna or TX mods?

i would imagine it can be fixed with a hard antenna on the controller and a cat 5 antenna on the car. i haven't really found it necessary with my controller though.

i got one too, i had to pick it up, i was tired of carrying around a bag of controllers, i like it, it doesnt work on all my cars though, i have at least one car for all the channels out there, but at least i can leave 3 controllers home, i like the fact that i can make the boost stay on full time on my fairlady, thats kinda cool, the feel of the controller is superior, feels like a super nintendo controller. i paid 25 for mine, i know expensive, but worth it too me, no shipping charges, picked it up at a local toy store. overall well worth it.

Range fix for the 4-ch controller.

Youll need an old regular controller for this, and it is visibly obivous after the mod. I used one of my old 27mhz microsizer controllers for this since I had two of em.

This isn't my mod, so i'll just put the link up for ya.

Don't try to switch spools over (to make it look unmodded) unless you are that bored....troubles not worth it, the makers went gonzo with the krazy glue to keep those antennas on that thing.
