Zip Zaps Transformers Broken Pinion Gear
I broke the pinion gear on my car. I've been looking everywhere for a new one, but I can't seem to find one. Where can I get a new one, or preferrably more than one?
Here's a pic of the pinion gear. It's the really small one.

Is that a transformer truck?
is it bigger then a regualr zip zap car?
if so hit your radio shack again, and look for the zip zap truck clearance section, its 99 cents.
otherwise buy a 2nd one and return it after you take the part off

It's the bee car. I wouldn't feel right buying a new one just to take the gear then returning it.

You can always find broken or claimed to be broken stuff at Radio Shacks. Just make friends with the manager.
He will put it in the computer as scraps and sell it very cheaply, they usually just throw the stuff out.

Thanks hschnark. I looked at one radioshack but they didn't have many accessories left and they were all at least $20. None of the pieces looked like the pinion gear, and I was hesitant to order something on ebay because I wasn't sure if the gear packs included the right pinion gear. I'll look at more radioshacks, and if I can't find it there I'll get it off ebay prob.

hschnark, ur awesome! That's exactly what I needed. I'm gonna try to get a car set. I was hoping that would work out since I wanted to get a 'real' zipzaps car anyways. I'll be busy on ebay / calling rs stores for a bit.

Ignore my previous posts!
I was having problems with my browser and could not open the picture in your original post.
My comments were for the ZipZaps CARS and it appears from your picture that you have a MONSTER TRUCK.
The gears are NOT interchangeable with the ZipZaps CARS!
The Monster Truck Performance Booster Upgrade Kit is what you need. It should have all the pieces you need to fix your problem.

I think your original posts were right. That was the only pic I could find that looked like it had a pinion gear in it so I just grabbed that one.
I have the transformers bee car. It has a black gear with 6 teeth I think.
This is the problem I was having before. Everything I look at looks like this:
http://www.ssb3.net/users//46166/img...1188571560.jpg
I already have the blue gear in the pic. The gear I broke looks just like the black gear in this pic:
http://www.gcrossett.com/zipzaps/mod..._fast/8721.jpg
Can I just use one of the gears in the pic from the ssb3 link and put it on upside down? The skinny part in the middle looks like it's the right size and might work with the other gear in my car. I haven't been able to find pinion gears anywhere.

OK, you found one. The set in your picture is,
Performance Booster Upgrade Kit. 600-7521, containing,
Stock speed motor (Green - 16,000 rpm)
Turbo speed motor (Yellow - 23,500 rpm)
Racing speed motor (Orange - 28,000 rpm)
Extra motor clip with set screw
Transfer gear set (Blue - 18T:6T, Green - 18T:7T, Red - 18T:8T)
Rear axle/gear set (Blue - 24T, Green - 23T, Red - 22T)
You can either use one of the above motors as is or VERY CAREFULLY pull the pinion gear off one of the motors and slip it onto the RED BASE - 21,500 rpm motor that came with your Transformers car. My suggestion is that you switch motors and don’t mess with the gears. Too easy to screw up.
Other gear/motor sets sometimes available on eBay, Etc. that would work are,
Speed and Performance Booster Kit. 600-7551
Turbo speed motor (Yellow - 23,500 rpm)
Racing speed motor (Orange - 28,000 rpm)
Nitrous Express motor (Purple - 34,000 rpm)
Extra motor clip with set screw
Transfer gear set (Blue - 18T:6T, Green - 18T:7T, Red - 18T:8T)
Rear axle/gear set (Blue - 24T, Green - 23T, Red - 22T)
And
Performance Booster Upgrade Kit. 60-7501
Precision Control Motor (Blue - 10,000 rpm)
Turbo Speed Motor (Red - 21,500 rpm)
Extra Motor Clip with Set Screw
Suspension Bars (3 Tensions)
Transfer gear set (Blue - 18T:6T, Green - 18T:7T, Red - 18T:8T)
Rear axle/gear set (Blue - 24T, Green - 23T, Red - 22T)
I don't believe that the pinion gear for the Monster Truck ZipZaps (your original picture) will work on any of the ZipZaps cars.

I only have one Transformer, the Optimus Prime truck but the motor and mount seem to be the same as all the ZipZaps SE's that I have and you should be able to swap the motor on your Bumblebee.
I would try a motor swap on my Optimus Prime just to make sure but it is highly modified and the motor is buried deep inside and it would be a major effort to get to it.
The only problem I can foresee is the Bumblebee has a square base motor (I think) and the motors in the booster kits have round bases so you might have to fool with it some to get it positioned right and/or use the motor clip that comes in the kit. I think the clip on the Bumblebee has a long grounding tail that the clip in the kit may not have. I've done a lot of similar motor swaps on ZipZaps SE's so it should work. My only caution is to be gentle. These things are not "Built Ford Tough".

I have a spare pinion gear, the zip zap i got at a flea market had too many issues, so i have the gear you need.
they have re jacked up the price on the transformer zipzaps.
they are clearancing the xmod cars, gonna get about 5 "claimed broken" ones on monday for $3 each.
the last thing i got that was broken was the boats they were selling at xmas, and it fully worked after i took out the rusted battery holder.

I mean how do I even start to take the body off? I don't want to break it of course. Do I just lift up on the 'tabs' on the front and back end of the car to try to get the body off?

The Optimus Prime truck body is removed by taking out 2 small screws at the far rear of the chassis but I doubt that it is like that on the Bumblebee.
I'm guessing that the Bumblebee is the same as the ZipZaps cars where you pry (stretch) the body away from the chassis at the front with a small flat screw driver. To put it back on, insert the chassis into the tabs at the rear of the body and once again pry the body over the chassis at the front. Just be careful and don't over do it.

Thanks again hschnark I was able to get the body off with a flathead screwdriver. Now I've just gotta be patient and find a good auction on ebay that has a regular zip zaps car and an extra motor.
I'll just be using the regular one mostly when I get it, as it's a pain taking apart the transformers car to clean the hair out.
My poor cat misses her car. I think she's starting to get sick of the laser pointer.
These forums rock btw. I'd be screwed without them.
