Need help. My XMOD won't move anymore..
Hey guys, I've been a member here since a long time ago, close to when xmods first came out. I got a skyline and loved it, but my interest in my xmod died down. Just recently i decided to try playing with my xmod again but when i pull the trigger on the remote, my car didnt move. Also, when I turn the wheel left or right, it turns, but it stutters aLOT and makes weird noises. I never had problems with my xmod until now. This just started happening recently and I didnt even do anything that would have caused this. Please help if anyone of you have had a similar problem and fixed it. Also, i got the light kit and it was working fine until all of a sudden it got ALOT dimmer and sometimes doesnt even light up...whats up with that? ANyways thanks for any help given

It sounds like bad batteries to me. The steering will stutter if it isn't getting enough juice.

hmm thanks for the info. I had a feeling it might have been the batteries cuz i just put them in when they weren't done charging, but that's because i've been charging the batteries for like at least 10 hours and the light was still red so i got impatient. How long does it usually take to charge the batteries? BTW its the radioshack rechargeable batteries that are green.

There are many problems with the RS batteries and mainly the charger. I've noticed with my charger that while you think all the batteries are charged when it turns green, that actually only 2 or 3 of them did while the other ones never had a good solid connection to charge.
It sounds to me like this might be your case. When batteries are placed in series only one current can flow through them and the entire circuit; this will be limited by the weakest battery. I believe that at least one of your batteries didn't charge and probably had a small remaining charge--enough to slightly power the lights and make the steering attempt to turn.
If you have another charger, I would use that. If you have a multimeter, you could check each of the batteries. At a full charge, they should be around 1.3V. That charger definitely has many problems though.

Ok I'm stupid, i just realized there is something wrong with my batteries, when i charge it, the light is red...i don't know if this is a problem with my charger or with the batteries. Just for assurance, does the red light mean my batteries are messed up for good and that I will no longer be able to use them? If not, can i use any AAA battery charger to charge the radioshack batteries? Or is it the batteries itself that are messed up? Thanks

I only used the charger once, but I believe red means charging. You could charge them in just about any regular ni-mh battery charger, minus the 15min chargers. The 15 minute chargers push a lot of current through batteries and will pop ones that aren't made for it.
Your batteries might be dead, but I would definitely give another charger a try.

unfortunantly I still use these batteries... ::sigh:: the red light means that the batteries are not installed on the charger correctly... so the paperwork said... I'd put only one battery in at a time... and see if they all give you a red light... or if they let it turn into green blinking light (charging)... and when they finish the light is a constant green... those are the lights and what they mean... good luck...
