I think we should get a xmod online race club going for tinyrc. Like every other week we race on a track that everyone can make and be the same. There could be different classes, like: stock, RS upgrades, and open. Then we post the times on here. Then give points to the top placers. Kind of like a point series. Then at the end of the season there can be a prize.

thats a good idea... it'd be kinda prone to lies tho... maybe it'd have to be backed by video? iono... either way... theres always a way for cheaters... but even if we didnt have prizes that'd be kinda cool... im interested in it if you wanna give that a go...

Video is a good idea, but if we get races up around 10 minutes, they're gonig to get pretty big for downloading.
I think we should get something going. Maybe we just have to our best discretion. We should be able to see if someone cheats, and has an impossible time.
One idea is to have the times sent to a person one at a time, instead of posting. This would make it harder to cheat, as the person submitting the time, doesn't know the other times of other cars. Making it harder to come up with a time reasonable enough to win, without looking like cheating.
I've got some ideas on tracks, that can all be made within a 10x10 area.
This will take some more thinking, but we could get it going.
Sorry for hijacking this thread

all great ideas... once we'd get enough people to do this we could have one person sit it out as the score keeper? just to keep it as honest as possible... either way... and thats very true about the videos... but it'd still be interesting to maybe catch some short races like that... and as for the hijacking... wanna join up xmodrzr??? hehe... since this is all something that sprung from your topic... and is kinda what you were interested...

We should write out some rules, get the tracks drawn, then post a topic for thoes who want to join, then get this going.
It would be kinda cool to see some vids of others racing. But I won't be the one downloading them with my 35K internet
Ideas for classes? Stock, RS upgrade, and Open.
Stock being, well stock, out of the box and nothing else.
RS upgrade, anything that can be bought in RS(awd, bearings, wheels ect)
Open, anything mentioned, plus anything you personally made(more/different cells, custom motors, ect.)
Any Other ideas?
How many tracks do you think we should have?

well what we will do is setup a track... like a certain size and layout... and put it on a certain type of track... i.e. carpet, lynolium<sp?>, cement... so all the tracks are more or less the same build... then you race it... get your times for a few laps... and boom... its a race across the country... better than no race at all... it works well as long as we all stay truthful... ^_^...
...and as for the classes... in about 8 hours i'll only be allowed in the open... hahah... just found the parts to do a six cell mod... but yah... we could do that... iono how we gonna go about the track making... but as soon as i figure it out... im in like sin...

Yes, just like a time trial.
@drewdown- put some micro connectors in your six cell, so you can swap it in and out fast. Then you'll be racing in both classes.
I'll post some pics of tracks. Most of them are 10'x10', one so far is 10'x5', just about the smallest an xmod track can be. How many tracks? just one? 5? How often should a race be held? What kind of timers?

I've been to that site a few times. The thing I don't like is the minimum of two L RCP tracks needed.
This little points series were getting going is going to be cheap. We don't make you buy a certian track. It will be anything you can use to make the shape of the track. I'm suggesting pcv pipe, which is dirt cheap. It's going to be a lot less precise compared to that one.
I'm still not sure about the timing device either. I'm trying to make one, that everyone can make.

its not against the rules what we are doing... we just want something that everyone can do... pvc piping is the most cost effective stuff... thats probably what i am going to get... as for a 10' by 10' space... i'll figure it out sooner or later... got pure carpet in my apt... (sidenote: even on carpet im rolling over with my six cell mod...) but ya... this will be an interesting thing... even if its only a few people large right now... when you take a picture of the track, you are gonna have to show dimensions on the picture... as for the timer... we can get maybe something almost the same that we can agree on... so lets do it to it... lets do the first track on CARPET!!!
