AA setup
hi there im looking for a stock gen 1 pcb but i guess i cant find one on theese froums neither on ebay so i was wondering if i ordered a gen 1 pcb with fet upgrades could i run a 6 cell double a setup (AA just incase no one understood) or is that pushing it a bit to much i know that you can run like a bajillion aaa on a 2X3 fet setup but double A should just be right at the border with a FET upgrade
btw lets say i get a fet upgraded or a stock pcb could i take my fets from my old pcb and stack those ontop of the stock/upgraded one
(if u didnt know already im new to gen 1's so i dont know if theres a forward and reverse FET)
oh and also would you be able to fit it all inside an xmod body
p.s. im new to voltage and currents so dont get all pissed off if im a couple of the 8.4 limit (dunno if its the same with gen 1 and evos)

you could stack stock FETs on each other, but they are a real pain to unsolder without breaking a leg off. AA's won't change anything but your run times, and slow you down since they're heavier. The voltage limit on the gen one is smaller than the evos. The driving fets are the same on gen1, both are the same kind. Stacking FETs means you have to cut the heat sink on the bottom.

lol thanks but is there a way to DRAMATICALLY increase speed but by not adding like 10 cells and without putting in a better enigne (something simple that you could probably buy at a radio shack or something)
oh kinda off topic but can i run 6 cells on a gen 1 without it burning and what this i heard about the antenna and the batteries touching and shorting out

The only way to dramatically increase your speed is to increase your motor voltage. If you don't want to add "like 10 cells" then you need to use different cells, ie, Lithium Ion. A Li-ion battery the size of a AA will deliver 3.5 volts instead of the AA's 1.5 volts. You can run two of these on a stock gen 1 PCB without burning it. If you want more voltage then you're probably going to need external FETs and or a 5v regulator PCB.
I would recommend replacing the 130 motor with a 180 motor (Team Orion makes a good motor that will not burn the stock FETs and is not expensive), and using the tallest gear you have.
This will make your car pretty F'ing fast without complicated mods. And, no offense, if you're new to electrical theory, you really don't want to tackle FET stacking and what not. As it is you'll need some soldering skills.
If you get Li-ion batteries make sure you get a proper charger for them.

im not 2 bad in soldering i just dont know how to get the solder to slide off the iron
but i alos think that my technique is wrong

Solder adheres to what is hot. The surface you are soldering too has to be clean. Heat up what you want the solder to go on before you put solder anywhere. Once it's heated up, apply solder next to the tip of the iron. This should be used for most cases. When it comes to FETs, i put a small amount of solder on the iron to drag across the fet legs. If a surface is meant to be soldered, the solder should stick fairly easily.
