Gears and Pinions and a RANDOM topic

hey there i have an evo and i just want to know whats the best gear and pinion to have to have the fastest top end speed

i was looking at this gear http://cgi.ebay.com/GPM-Delrin-Main-...QQcmdZViewItem

but im new so i have no idea if its worth it or not so links would be helpful is possible

p.s. this is a completely RANDOM topic but could someone tell me what the hell a differential is, where its located, how it looks, and how to lock it. Pics would be greatly appreciated. i know this question was answered alot but i had no idea how it looked so instead of cluttering the forums i just made a 2 in one

edit:: i was searching on ebay and i came to this

http://search.stores.ebay.com/xmod-p...sPageNameZWD1S

near the bottom of the page there were items like this
Xmod EVO 9-23 Pinion Gear Set
whats that? which one is the best? and are all of them compatible with all motors

Basically, the closer those two numbers are together, the higher top speed you'll have.

Basically, you want gears with the highest amount of teeth...(I'm oversimplifying things here Jazz, I know. I'm just trying to keep it simple and easy).

The more teeth there are, the less torque it'll have but the higher the top-end speed will be. Right now (to the best of my knowledge) the highest gearing you can get with Radioshack parts is with getting the Stage-2 Upgrade (for the Evo) and using the 12tooth Motor Gear with the 25(or is it 24?) tooth Main Gear.

As to your other question of what a Diff is? I think other people also don't know, so I created this post and hopefully it explains it well enough to get an idea:

okay my friend gas a gen 1 stage 2 blue motor and i wanna take the pinion out of it how do i go about and doing it becuase i tried to use sheer force and that was really bad btw he doesnt care about the motor anymore so i can use it and abuse it if i want but i need the pinion for a custom motor im ordering http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWN:IT

and if i use the blue brass pinion could it work with the stock evo gear
