Unhappy 3rd Gen Steering/Stuttering Problems

I've been lurking and searching the forum for about a month now. I'm a noob to the forum, but not to Zip Zaps. This site has me modding my ZZMT's and fixing my ZZSE's.

I've done a lot of reading on the SE's and their generations. I went ought a bought a clearance priced SE the other night, a 3rd Gen according to its model #, 60-7050 (datecode 08A04). Its the White Ford GT. Only problem is that the steering stutters, the steering occasionally doesn't work, and the throttle stutters at times as well. I couldn't find in my search anyone who'd had this problem with a 3rd Gen. Obviously I'm taking it back to trade in... was just curious if anyone else had been burned by a 3rd Gen?

I really like the Ford GT body... kinda odd since I'm a bigtime Toyota fan. Anyone want to trade me a Ford GT body for a current SE body, or an old Mazda Savannah body? If there is someone who wants one of the current SE bodies, I trade for that SE today and then we can trade bodies.

Regards,
Joel (Honger)

Joel--

I'll be at the Indy fairgrounds for the model railroad show on Saturday. I'll bring a white Mustang body for you in case you'll be there too.

If you have a GMRS radio, tune to channel 1 and give me a holler at the show. Otherwise, look for an old fellow wearing a beard, a light olive green jacket, and a Fedor-type hat.

Your obligation to me--show me what innovative mods you've done to your MTs, and as simple as that the body's yours. And I'll have my MTs with me.

And you get to participate in all the model railroad stuff, too. Oh, admission to the show is $7.

Chilli,

Thanks for your generosity, I'll try to make it to the show. I sent you an e-mail at your verizon address with more of a reply.

Can anyone else corroborate that there are 3rd Gen flukes out there? Is this an isolated enough incident that if I trade it for another 3rd Gen I should probably be fine? Thanks!

Just to add my 2 cents. I have a mustang zip zap SE 3rd generation. It has developed the steering stuttering problem. So far I have not had one zip zap SE that worked well after a few months of use. I own a few of each generation and overall they have not held up too well for me with long term use. When I find some time I will look into finding out why I have so many problems with these cars. I have devoted most of my spare time to running 1/43 and 1/28 scale rc cars because I have a lots of room to run them and they seem to be less fragile.
