Question For Fet Se Owners
I have a question for those of you who own a zipzaps se with the mosfet mod.
1) Have you experienced any wear in the chassis where the rear axle is inserted? With the huge increase in top speed (15km/h according to MicroAmps), I'm wondering how long the plastic material of the chassis will hold up over time at that critical location. Any noticeable increase in how much "play" the rear axle has in the chassis slots over time?
2) For those of you with the extra wide rear wheel kit installed, does your car still flip during turns at full speed and maximum turning radius (like how a single speed bit would turn)? If so, have you tried to add the extra wide wheels to the front also? Obviously the proportional steering and accel. will solve this problem, but I'm just trying to get an idea of how stable your car is at those speeds.
3) How much faster are you than a duel-celled bit?
Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated!

1) Axle wear. Yes, but I think its more from insertion/removal of the axle than from lots of wear from the speed. For longest life, pick a gearset and just leave it in. You can also add graphite or teflon dry lube to the axle to help with any friction wear.
2) Flipping with wide rear. I've got a custom wide rear end on my FETed SE (Hot Wheels Tunerz wheels, wider and much taller), and it still flips, depending on what kind of surface I'm running on, and with what motor. A King 4.2 motor on foam mat surface will roll with no problem, but on tile/wood floors it rarely flips unless I hit something.
3) comparison to a dualcell bit. No idea, I've never even seen a bit

Thanks for the reply.
As far as how fast your car is, can you time your car at a 6ft or less distance drag race (on your best surface with your fastest motor)? I would really like to know how fast a FET zipzap SE is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a 2mb video of several 7 foot runs before and after the basic FET mod.
Note that this is with an orange motor and blue gears on dense carpet.
Top speed before the mod was 2.5mph, after was 3.5mph, a 40% increase.
The video is Xvid compressed, if you get sound and no video, download a new codec.

Thank you very much for the video! I just wanted to get a good speed comparison of a zipzap se vs. my motorworks dual celled bit (w/4.2 motor and medium gears which I can't change). I'm not sure if you have seen this video from cyborgzero post:
www.cyborgzero.com/video/cztzzsedrift.mpg
The speed shown in this video seems to match my bit but I really can't tell unless I get a run time on a flat surface. I'm pretty sure that the carpet you raced on would slow your car significantly.
Just for comparison, the time for my bit on a 7ft flat surface (it's lanoleum in the shape of small square tiles) is approximately .80-.90 sec. It has the same top speed as a 4.2 pro but a heck of a lot more torque. If you put one of my bit's motors on your mosfetted zipzaps se, I bet you could do wheelies way more easily. Thanks again for the video.
