Xmod newb, Mini X Vet

Hi guys,

Busy forum!

Long time Mini X driver and like the look/sound of Xmods but wondering how they compare ( a non biased account would be nice).

Some Qs:
What are they like stock?

What are the most needed or popular first mods?

The dimensions and or clearance seems to vary with model, I would like a high off road drifter and a low slick tourer, which models would be best for each?

4wd any good on these/do they drift?

Cheers, and maybe I see you on here more often.

Ted

the 4WD still feels more like a RWD though.
but it can do some nice drifts.
they are 16 step propo steering and 5 step speed.
they are ok sped stock to me. (8 MPH bout)
slow to most though

Hi Ted, and welcome to the forums!

(I seem to be doing a lot of this recently!)

I don't own an Xmod, though from what I've read here in the forums it isn't as good as the mini-X. It's heavier and slower than the minix and doesn't have fully proportional steering. Many have adapted theirs to run on 5 or 6 cells, but this makes them even heavier. the Diffs are geared, as far as I know, unlike the ball diffs on the Minix.

The bodies are styrene, not lexan, and a lot more detailed, though with a much lower ground clearance.

Personally I would stick with the mini-x, and slap a set of Overland tyres on it for your off road drifting. (sounds like the rally application I've been working on myself...)
