Best body shell for Mods?
quick question:
- any opinions on the best body shell for modding? in other words, which shell offers the most inside room, is easiest to paint, cut, shape, etc.?
- i know that you hard-core folks may be interested in the make and model...
- if the zz shelf at the local Rat Shack is any indicatation, it looks like no one's interested in the PT Cruisers at all! when i first bought into this insidiious madness, i got a silver 27MHz and a red 47MHz Porsche, along with a yellow 47MHz Ford Cobra... there were a bunch of PT Cruisers on the shelf, too... now, a weeked later, all the other zz items are gone, but the PT Cruisers are still there!
- looks like some marketing honchos in the Rat Shack food chain screwed up!
- maybe they'll discount the PTs?? (cheap way to get an extra carriage/controller)
:-)

i dont know if there is a "best" body shell, it's all pretty much about personal preference. if you put your mind to it you could put any mod on any body shell, and it would probably work out fine. what i did was just mod my crappy silver porsche (i have the 4 FF cars and the porsche looked so plain sitting there, so i decided to mod it, since i had nothing to lose but an plain ugly shell ) it's turned out pretty nice, you can lower the front pretty easily and if you cut out the basic spoiler that's on it you can add one of the normal removable spoilers and then it'll start looking like a great car about the PT, the shape is pretty irregular so you're kind of confined to it's odd shape, and who ever heard of a race modified PT cruiser anyways?

wutz up? (not that i couldn't put my own holes in mind you)...

All of mine...
...were what I call the "PT Losers". Every car I bought (all 4) were PT's. I just bought and modified the FF car bodies. No longer are they PT cruisers. PT's would be cool if you are into them, I just never have been.

well..
i bought a PT today (i had to, it was the only 49mhz one left) and i think it's worth it simply because of the AWESOME shiny hubcaps you get. i mean most people won't even be touching their stock shell that comes w/ their car, so it's worth it to just buy the PT to get the sweet hubcaps. =)

Hey latency you still got those PT shells? I would love to get a couple of them if you do and don't want them. How much would you want for them?

Hey Shad...
I think I have 2 still that are un-touched. If you want them, that is cool. You can have them for free.
I would just want you to pay for mailing...maybe send me an addressed/stamped envelope and I can drop them in the mail?
Shoot me an email:

Not sure Gooty. heh on a different note I should hopefully a Zap Viper body soon hehe.. I am working on modding some cars I picked up a walmart to see if I can make em fit. Gonna definitly have to get a bigger motor though. These bodies are a touch heavier than the standard Zap body.

NOS is kinda wierd, i have all the zip motors and i prefer the red turbo. why? it has better acceleration.I've tested this in each of my cars (one with the 27mhz having NOS, one with the 49 having it, same gears). In drag racing, the Turbo always bursts into an immediate lead, and after about a yard the NOS will overtake it and continue going faster. So the NOS has higher max speed, but the acceleration is alot lower than on the turbo. and since i race on a ping-pong table sized short track, I hardly have th opportunity to reach the max speed with all the turns and such. so my preference is turbo, but if you're drag racing or racing some track with light turns, then NOS is better.
it's really all about preference.

So Basically if I need speed, im gonna need a NOS engine, but for acceleration in short distances, turbo is better.
Gotcha
