Spinbrush magnets (courtesy of xmod forums)

I dropped by rite aid today and picked up a crest spinbrush out of curiousity. Since its difficult to get parts for this scale (LHS's don't really carry much), I like the idea of being able to walk in and buy instead of buying online, paying shipping etc.

I have an extra 2wd motor I picked up to experiment on while I learned about motors (never modded them before). I decided to swap the magnets into this motor to learn on before touching my 4wd motor (no spares). The spinbrush came apart very easily as did the motor. The swap was pretty easy overall.

Anyway, the current measurements I got off the motor were a bit odd. The current draw actually dropped a bit with the stronger magents (tho I only tested the draw after the swap today, and tested the pre-swap draw a couple of weeks ago). Using 4 AAA batteries (alkaline) I got about .41A on the stock 2wd motor magnets and about .36A with the spinbrush magnets. Does this make sense at all?

After all was said and done, I was able to reassemble the spinbrush so that it looked almost untouched and worked fine. I'm posting some pics in case it helps someone who wants to keep the toothbrush along with their magnet upgrade.

This pic shows some pliers inserted into the spinbrush body after removing the battery cap and rubber band. I just opened the pliers inside the case and it popped perfectly in half.

BTW, rite-aid is having a sale on these for $0.99 each. The magnets may not be as good as neos, but the xmod people seem to like them. Its definitely worth $1 to experiment with (not to mention you get a toothbrush and 2 AA's out of it).

Stock was pretty much gone when I got there (2-3 rows cleaned out), I lucked out and picked up two ugly purple ones hiding behind some hotwheels brushes :P
