TTTT ideas
Hey gang,
I am sure by now most of you have seen Bodie's 1/24 scale crawler, and mine also.
We are embarking on TTTT's now.
Here is the problem and idea. I am an amateur radio operator and I cannot risk losing my license by using 72mhz(air use only) stuff for my TTTT's. I know alot of you are doing it, b/c we cannot get small 75mhz gear to use in the TTTT stuff. I am not flaming anyone, or trying to make anyone mad, just stating my situation.
I have picked up a ZipZapSE to see if it is possible to use the electronics out of it for my TTTT. So far so good.
Right now, I have modded a micro servo to use with the ZipZapSE board, and it is working, although not perfect. I have to work on the centering, but I think that is controler related. So, it looks like steering will be possible.
The next mod is taking the stock controller and making it user friendly. I am going to gut it, and use a hobby class radio to house it, so I can have better control, and hopefully take care of the centering problem. (The ZipZap controller is notorious for a tight dead zone, and poor springs)
I might need to FET mod the board to make it all work ok, but time will tell. I will do the motor Fet mod for sure, and hope to find someone who has fet mod'ed the steering also.
When all is said and done, I hope to retain the freq changing ability as well as retain all the "propo" control
Ideas? Comments? Has anyone else attempted this?
