Did you happen to take the front end apart? What happened is the driveshaft holds the bevel gear in place and it needs to be put in the right way(notch goes in the bevel gear notch) and then in the front end the black piece needs to be keeping the driveshaft from coming out. Im thinking the front black thing isn't put in right.

im sure its the engine, same thing happened to me right when i put my new stage 2 in, just hold the car in ur hand, and rev the car at like half throttle for a while and the screeching should stop.

lube both ends of the motor with a little oil. my mom has an ash tray thats sucks the smoke into it that did this and i lubed both ends of the motor and it is completely silent now.

the best way to check if it is the motor is to take the motor out, but leave the wires connected and hit the throttle, if you still get that horrid noice, then try oiling the motor. Check the other moving parts/non moving part connections. (All the berings and such) Make sure that they are lubed. (Either dry or wet lube, just use the same as what was already used.)
I hade a mild screech in my car, till I took everything apart and cleaned the oil/greese off of everything and re-lubed everything with Graphite. Now it is smooth, and does not collect dirt & dust mutch!

Same problem here, too... stage 2 motor + AWD...
I'm pretty sure its the brushings making that noise.
The best thing to do is swap out the brushings for sealed bearings, but lube works for the short term.
I remember earlier there was a post about a guy that installed AWD and stage 2 like me and it caught fire. From how he described it, sounded like the brushings got too hot from friction and lit... wouldn't be suprised if a peice of dried grass got in there and started it.
Brushings are soo weak, get the bearings.

I think I ran my car for 20 min before I installed the metal berrings. Once I installed the berrings it ran faster (With the same motor). I have sense removed all oil and replaced it with graphite, that made everything run even smoother. You can use graphite even on the plastic bushings. But you have to remove the oil first. (I cleaned my entire car with Alcohol then re-lubed everything with oil)

Says who! Not everyone has $150+ for a starter car. Besides I have looked and I cannot find anywhere local that carries ANYTHING MiniZ So it is not always what is better, sometimes it is what is easier.

I am happy with my X-Mod. I am not trying to have a professional quality car. I just want to have some fun. And my X-Mod is just fine for me.

Haha, actually, it would, as the vast majority of Mini-Z motors do not use ball bearings, and will eventually exhibit the same screeching problem. (And I am thinking that is the problem the original poster is describing)
