Upgraded Wiring
This question is for the advanced x-moders
I was wanting to upgrade my wiring since I am buring the wires on my xmod over and over again.
I saw some people whom had 16g wire installed. I had some high quaility 16g wire and found that sodering to the esc is a tricky task. The holes in the board are just big enough for the stock wire to fit thru, the 16g is much larger then what the board will accept
is there a way around that, or a trick I dont know about? Can someone offer advice on how I can get this wire on my board so I can complete this upgrade.
Thanks

UPGRADE WIRING
IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE WIRING IN THE ESC YOU NEED TO
REMOVE THE OLD THIN WIRES BY HEATING THEM UP WITH
A SOLDRING GUN AND THAN REMOVE THE EXTRA SOLDERS WITH
SUCKER. WHEN YOU GET TO THE EMPTY HOLE USE A SMALL DRILL BIT TO ENLARGE THE HOLES TO FIT THE 16 GAGE WIRES.
BE CARFULE NOT TO DUMADGE THE CIRCUIT BORD.
I REPLACE ALL THE WIING IN MY XMODS TO 16 GAGE WIRES.
IT WOKS VERY WELL.

igoren,
Welcom to the forums. Please try not to type in all caps, it makes it a little harder to read.
Thanks

if you do try making the holes bigger, try not to ruin the gold disks that the wires connect to, or else it will be very difficult for the solder to stick to the board

upgrade wiring
i use a hand drill ( not electric ) to gentel enlarge the holes,
and also you can trim few thrend from the wire tips befor insert
into the hole and have the wire insulation fit tight against the
circuit board and solder from the back.
it is very delicate job ,you need to disasambale the entier board
and be carfull not to dumadge the other wires to the servo
and speed control.
in my mini cooper - italian job i added charging plug to the battery
asambly so i dont need to remove from the car for recharging.

no, upgraded wiring will have better current flow. nothing can prevent you from accidentally touching your battery lead to your anrenna wire (like you did).

You can use electrical tape on the end of the ant lead to avoid making the same mistake in the future.

~this is kinda neuby but when you guys say you replace all the wires, is it ever sing wire on the electronics circuit (excluding the wires leading to the light connector) or are you guys simply replacing the motor and battery wires
~the guage i suspect to be between 18-24 but this is only a eye worthy guesstimate
~as for the hole problem, when i had to reconnect all the wires in my tx (broke the ribbon wire) i used a small paperclip to clear out the hole.. as for he fitting issue you could just try to get as much of the wire in the hole, and then flat solder the rest..
~random issue- should i put back my .02$ avatar or keep this?

how much better flow would upgraded wires give? like performance wise. would it make the car considerably faster?

I have a 5 cell sb hybrid and I didn't notice any performance gain on the wire upgrade. I upgraded all the wires too. To make the wire fit in the hole I trimmed of a couple of strands and made sure to hit both sides with some solder.
