IC3 Charger Question
While on the RS website, I looked at ther manual for their IC3 4 cell charger, and it says;
"2. Plug the small end of the adapter cord into the top the charger, and then plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet.
To charge in the car, plug the small end of the car adapter cord into the top of the charger and plug the large end of the car adapter into your car lighter power port."
Sounds good, but when I went and got one, ihe instruction manual had the 'To charge in the car, plug the small end of the car adapter cord into the top of the charger and plug the large end of the car adapter into your car lighter power port' missing from the manual.
I wanna run it in the car, anybody happen to know what adapter I would use from RS? I asked the people there, but they were beyond clueless at this particular RS. Here's a link to the manual:

Or if you have the Rayovac model, what to use?

OK the CAR thing that they are refering to is for charging the batteries from a REAL car's cigerett lighter port. (A 12 volt source) Not for charging the batteries while they are still in your X-Mod. The IC3 charger is NOT only for the X-Mod, it is the same as the RayoVac charger that is available EVERYWHERE else. It does not come with the Car Lighter Adapter, that is something you have to send away for. THe pack that I got mine had a little mail in thing where I got the adapter free, all I have to do is send them the shipping fee.

Yes, I know that.

I know that too, but not available anywhere near where I live. Been to every Wal-Mart, Target, etc within 50 miles in every direction, and finally just paid for the higher priced one at RS, and it was the only one they had in stock after going to about 8 RS.

No mail-n thing in the RS one. Normally things with an adapter plug, right next to the hole is a little diagram telling you how much juice it needs to run, and whether the tip is pos. or neg. but not with the RS one. Not even any helpful info on the wall plug itself. Seems like RS is being secretive about it for some reason.

Nope, the same on the RAYOVAC Charger. No polarity, or other input settings. However it appears that the AC adapter is outputting 14.5 Volts (15.25 is what my Volt Meter says), 4.5Amps and the center is +. However I am unaware of ANY power adater that RS sells that can handle a 4.5amp (4,500 mAh)draw. I would not reccomend using ANY other adapters except the ones designed for this charger (I doubt that it matters if the label says RS or Rayovac on it.) Using anything else could end up damaging the power supply, the charger or the batteries. I doubt that RS would have an adapter in the store to do what you want. You either need to print out the car part of the manual and take it to a RS store and ask them if you can order one. Call 1-800-THE-SHACK and see if they have anything listed, look at the Rayovac Webpage/Call Rayovac about ordering one from them. Or you could return the charger back to RS and get a Rayovac one from somehwere else and use the order form inside the package and get one from Rayovac in the mail. (They say that the car adapter is a $20.00 value, and you pay something like $3.95 shipping & handling, but that 2nd figure I am not sure about)

I'd like to, but I can't even find any online that are in stock. Seems to be a popular item, but there are plenty of 2 cell chargers though. I've got the Wal-mart page bookmarked, it's $27.83 there.

Is there even any reason that you would need to know this stuff anyways? RS sells consumer products, and consumers don't usually care how stuff works, so they don't bother labeling stuff like that I guess

Nevermind...
Problem solved. Found one at Best Buy, looks like someone tried to hide it for a later purchase. The employee's said they were sold out, and I found the thing behind something else I was looking at.
Paid the same price as the RS one (which I did return), but I can get the car cord for it for S&H like you said, so I B happy.

 Glad I could help. (BTW it was probably a Best Buy Employee that hid it.)
