I took my whole car apart tonight. I won't say why, but let's say I needed to swap out the reciever...
It's my guess that the "Chassis" (especially costing a mere $2 something) is just the plastic bottom sled of the car, and maybe the metal tray that the radio and servo sit in, and the paper insulator inside the metal tray. Those last 2 parts could easily come with the reciever part, as there is heat transfer grease between the metal tray and some of the chips (FETS?) on the reciever PC Board.
basically, look at all those parts available in the FAQ. It's my guess that the chassis doesn't contain any other parts you see listed in the parts list.
