Lightbulb Got bored today

(Kinda long)

And decided I wanted to do something to my xmod, but what?

Did I want to run 4-cells, 5-cells, 6-cells, did I want the lights???

Finally decided 'yes, I want them all' so I sat there and stared at everything for a while and made it fit.

For a few days, I was wondering what those 2 mounting spots in the roof were for, so I decided to use one of 'em to mount a battery holder. Then I went out and got me a light kit... found out what those 2 spots were for.

So, out comes the battery holder, in goes the light kit, lights are cool, gotta keep the lights. But I want more cells so out come the lights and sit there and stare at everything again.

I'd been hearing that both a 6-cell setup and the light kit will not fit, so I made 'em fit. Mounted the battery holder to one post, and the light kit right next to it.

Now, the wiring.

I still want the option of 4, 5, or 6-cell, so back to staring at the thing again. First, I clipped that pesky little black wire, then added a quick disconnect setup and there, it's still a 4-cell. Take the battery holder wires, and add another quick disconnect setup, and rehook the battery holder in line like it goes, and there, a 6-cell setup. But what about a 5-cell? Simple enough, just remove one of the batterys and add a jumper wire between the terminals, and it's a 5-cell setup.

And, everything fits nicely under the body, it's a skyline.

I like to have options, depending on what's going on that day...

Only problem I can see with all that is weight. Without a definite plan of action, you pack on a whopping sixty grams or something, nothing to really worry about; but I know how some guys get about adding any kind of heft at all to their cars.

Thumbs up

No problems so far, still runs great. About the only 'problem' I had was during the setup. I had to Dremel a mounting hole in the battery holder, and it ended up being right in the center of one side of the holder, so the screw was in the way for the second cell. So, I just swapped out one of the flat headed screws from somewhere, and then the battery fit fine.

your car is gonna run like the same speed it runs when u put all the weight because ur putting more power but ur using the power to pull all that weight

For the 5-cell, just remove one of the extra batteries and run a jumper between the 2 contacts (like a wire w/alligator clips on each end or something like that)

Right now it's running on RS Enercell Plus (waiting to get a charger for my IC3's) and the stock motor (Stage 1 w/8 tooth) and it flies!!! (those extra 2 batt's make a huge difference) Can't wait to try it with a stage 2 blue and the IC3's.
