Talking extra cell skeptics....READ READ!!!!

I know there are people out there with their cars maxxed out. The power is around for a little while then it gets old. Then they go on a forum (preferably this one cause all other ones are crappy knock-offs) and read around about more power. These people find threads that say things like, "Double your speed!" "More power in minutes!". 90% of these are extra cell mods, either five or six depending on the application. When inexperienced members ask how it is done, people answer "It's easy! just cut the black wire and put it up to the batt! 10 minutes max!" So, many of these novices go out into their garage and begin tinkering with their xmods. There are many outcomes to this which are as follows:

1. Electrocution
2. Fried XMOD
3. Discouragement
4. All of the above

You are probably wondering how I know all of this. It is because I was one of those people. I searched and searched for directions to do an extra cell mod. Someone told me (in exact words), "Connect the black wire to the batt's ends." This is futile information. I kept looking until I found a diagram. The diagram was rough and crude, but it seemed okay. Little did I know as I headed out to the garage, that the diagram was incomplete and it didn't have the pos. and neg. symbols on it. I tried and tried and couldn't get it to work. But! I looked at the diagram and i noticed something! THE P.O.S. WAS F*****G UPSIDE DOWN! So i recorrected it and I now have the simplest instructions for wiring a fifth cell into your xmod. The increased power is incredible. I only went for the 5th because with a 6th, it is much harder to drift with just RWD (which I have). So here are the directions to wiring up your new XMOD to a Fifth cell. These directions do not include using a battery holder, but an even better and economical solution..........ZIPTIES!

These instructions are step by step with even the simple parts. Here we go:

1. Connect soldering iron into the wall.
2. Preferably use a wedge shaped attatchment.
3. Take off body of xmod.
4. look just behind engine for the ends of the batt compartments.
5. Locate the black wire.
5a. black wire runs from the negitive side on the left, pos. on the right.

6. Cut black wire.
7. On the left part of the wire, make a notch 1 CM from the open end.

8. Stick your thumbnail into the notch and pull.
8a. This removes the insulation. You are left with bare copper stands.

9. Repeat steps 7-8a for the right part of the wire.
10. Take a little solder and melt it on the end of the iron.
11. Put hot solder on positive end on 5th cell.
12. Take left wire and hold it near pos. end.
13. Re heat pos. solder while attatching the left wire to it.
13a. Wire should be well attatched to the battery now.

14. Repeat steps 10-13a for right wire. The right wire attatches to the neg. end of the battery.

15. You should now have a properly assembled 5th cell. The bonds should be strong enough to be able to pick the car up by the extra cell.

16. Pull cell forward and put the antenna behind it.
17. Put cell on top of motor clips.
18. Take one small zip-tie and pull it around the battery and motor clips.
18a. Pull snugly until battery cannot more anymore.

That's it! I am attatching a picture of this done on my RSX. Have fun you modders!

Is anyone really skeptical about additional voltage? I mean, a power increase is pretty much a mathematical certainty (as are blown electronics if capacity is exceeded).

Um. Just 1 question. How are you going to charge your 5th cell? It looks as if its soldered into the wiring? Are you just going to unsolder it?

no i didn't mean it like that. i meant that some people are leary that it won't work or that they don't have the skills 2 do it.

it looks like you soldered directly to the battery. instead of that, look for a single AAA holder and use that in place of the battery. then when you're done, slip the battery into the holder and voila

I did the 2 cell upgrade, now my steering stutters and I have no power to the motor, so I set back normally (just the 4 cell's) and it's doing the same thing? Did I somehow blow the speed control
