Drop the Slop... Stearing that is
OK heres a cheap and easy way to get rid of some of that front wheel slop.
1: Find, Steal, buy a roll of White Teflon tape... Home Depot $0.49
2: Take stearing rod out of the front of your car.
3: Cut 2 equal length of Teflon tape... 1-1.25" should do it
4: Wrap the teflon tape around the endlinks that connect the stearing bar (tie rod) to the stearing Knuckle.
5: Reasemble front end
6: Vroom
It may take a few minutes for the tape to break in so it fits snugly in the stearing knuckle hole but doesn't bind things up too bad. It works great... Makes the stearing more accurate and responsive. I did it to my supra days ago and everything is still working fine... Now the front wheels only wobble as bad as the rear wheels... without the +or- 1/16" that theyhad before...

oh nice one. this gives me some more ideas too. like using the tape on the front knuckle tops. I think that would decrease the play in the front end as well.

What we really need is somebody to make a new servo horn so that we could make adjustable tierods with ball joint ends, like many other cars have.

I tried out the teflon tape idea and it worked great. The steering slop bothered me too and im glad its mostly gone now. I mean with normal cars before any modifications are made the car is brought to stock specs and isnt supposed to have any loose joints so the x-mod suspension should be the same way.

Will this also correct the uneven left/right steering ranges?

Will this mod work for XMODS with motors that cause their cars to spin out?
