Mods to increase range?

Hey all I just purchased a zipzap from radioshack(they just got them in canada), and I am severely dissapointed in the range compared to the bits that have a removed cripple cap. What mods can I do to increase the range of the zipzaps, please help this is really crappy having this small range.

p.s does adding two antennas increase range that much? if not im going to stick with one cat 5.

hey i just got a zipzap "new in Canada" and what can i say... im a tinker'r so i found that the more coils you have on the car the better the range im not shure how that works but it does so i tryed a guitar string and soldered it in place and im fairly happy with the range... for now

One of the problems with the range is due to the flimsy antenna not standing all the way up.

You can use a coffe stirrer to hold it up.

Or...

You can pick up some 24g wire at RS and replace the flimsy stock antenna with the more "stiff" 24g wire, which can be cut a little longer too.

i have a speaker wire antenna on mine and it works better than the guitar string
