I used a hyper dash 2 in mine. the low end is ok. but the top end is crazy fast and thats with the white gear. its faster than the stage 2. I haven't tried ultra dash or plasma dash B/C i'm scared about the speed cpntrol limit. a $50 expense for trying something. I heard torque tuned motors work REALLY good in xmods. i need to try that still. but they do work. you just gota be carefull about overloading the speed control.

I love the torque tuned motor. Especially for the 4wd cars.
Just fun watching it creep sideways before it shoots off.

When you try one of the tamiya motors- I have a secret for you.
Use a capacitor that goes between the two leads, and if you want, one that goes to the motor can. The can is a little hard to solder too, so use a lot of flux.
Here's the secret:
It really dosn't matter what capacitor you use, if you use a ceramic disk one. (looks like a brown disk with wires hanging off of it) They are also non ploar, so you can't put them on backwards.

It's not for the motor- it's for the radio, just like 1/10 scale.
Reduces interferance and glitching.

I dunno, but it can't possibly be much good for $2.99. Then again, it could actually be the Stage 1 motor...
It is only spec'd at 8700 RPM unloaded. It says it is designed for 1.5-3V. We only are running at 4.8-6V. It won't be very fast.
Personally, I'm waiting to see some motors that are designed for AWD cars. Right now, all I'm really finding are relatively low-torque high RPM models. These types of motors are really restrictive when it comes to gearing choices, and not powerful enough to really break the tires loose coming out of a corner. I want a motor where that 11T pinion gear set actually becomes useful.
I'm not worried about the electronics being able to handle it. When I'm done with my upgrade, they'll handle it easily.

The $2.99 is no big deal. After all, think abou it, the normal motor sets are like 15 for 5, 5 of these would be 15, too. It very well couuld be the same motor.

So far i've tested the hyper dash 2 and the torque tuned all by Tamiya.
The hyperdash's low end torque is at about or below stage 1 level. but the top speed is faster than stage two. I only used the white gear too. This motor's more for road racing. not too much drag since it barely has torque but top speed wise its pretty good.
The Torque tuned is at stage one level. but its way more smoother and suprisingly quiet. The car seems to not push itself outward through turns but just cruises right through it. Its good for small tracks with tight turns and not too many straights. As for top speed don't expect much.
I have yet to try the Ultra Dash and the Plasma Dash in my car. They should be a whole different level in performance. Or at least i'm hoping.
Thanx-Angelo

*Incredibly stupid question* What really is torque? And why does it matter when you drag?

your tourque is pretty much your acceleration and low rpm power. Certain military hummers, (not H2 mind you) have only about 110 HP, but over 500 Ft/lb of tourque, allowing it to practically climb up straight walls. if a car has less torque, its not going to jump off the line as fast as a torquier car. i dont think this is too good of a description, correct me if im wrong...
