using another controller

i have a real rc controller, that came with my hpi rs4. i tried switching the crystal, i took it out of the xmod controller and put it in my controller but it didnt work. any suggestions? maby ill try switching the reciever and the controller crystals. also i attached a picture of my skyline. i bought it yesterday.

the x mods use a sort of "encyption" that does not allow the use of another controller...

The only way to use a different controller would be to use completely different electronics.
