my 1st paint job.

okay, i have an Auto Modellista supra. so far i have sanded off the little wings popping out of the bumper, and now i need to know 2 things:

1. which color combo should i use out of:
Red with black racing stripe
Silver (chrome)
White with red stripe
Red with white/black flames

and

2. what is a good spray paint, and do i need nething else to make it come out lookin good?

like i said, this is my 1st paint job, so any extra help would be nice. thx

I think black and red details would be good or the white and red details.

I've only tried Tamiya gunmetal spray so far and it was pretty good. Not as glossy as I like (more like the shine of a silver paint), but still nice. I didn't use any clear coat yet. (I tried krylon satin clear coat spray before and it made my car look bad so I'm not using it on my new car.)

But I think the idea is laying down very thin coats very quickly.
Spray and swing the arm really quickly across the car. This will make sure you don't get too much paint on at a time, so you can let it dry and keep doing that and eventually after your 5th or 6th coat it'll start looking like a really nice paint job.

Oh I did use some Primer I bought at Autozone it was some all purpose grey primer and it seemed to work pretty well..

For masking I used scotch tape (both the blue removable kind, and the regular green kind) and an exacto knife. For large windows I used the blue removable kind, and for the small headlights and taillights I used the green tape because the blue tape wasn't sticky enough to stay on the curves.

Only problem is after I took off all the tape it left behind some sticky stuff... I've been trying to rub it off with alcohol and a qtip but theres always a little bit left still.

Good luck, have more patience than me! a good paint job will take you a few days to finish!

well, its too late now. while in the process of sanding the body on the bottom flat, i applied too much pressure and sent a big ol' crack right through the center of the car, so its dead. but i have the new yellow skyline R-34. what should i paint that?
