to any1 that has done the ultimate light mod or is good in electronic

ok this is for anyone that has done the ultimate light mod found on this page http://www.age.jp/~ex2/bit/01_custom_e.html or is good at electronic

anyways im planning to go buy some leds and do this mod, but one thing im trying to change is using an external battery source rather that used in the car, reason being i want my car's run time to be long, besides i plan to use hi intensity leds which the battery already found in the car wont power.

Im pretty new to electronics, infact i only started learning it at school this year, but im already pretty good with the soldering iron and positive that im capable of soldering the small bits found in the diagram, anyways does anyone know how to add a bigger battery into the diagram? im planning to use one of those button cells or maybe to so that it can power my led?

I was thinking of maybe adding the battery before the "vcc" OR disconnecting the wire leading from the vcc and conecting it to the grnd and in between that add my external battery. Would this idea work or would it give that power to the whole power circuit rather than just the "leds" part?

It looks like you've got to tap the board no matter what (to get the signal)

The only way to make this so it won't hurt speed or duration much is to keep it from sucking the power down. And that's to use Transistors or FETs. You'll have to modify the circuit and probably the car's pcb cover, but it should be able to work.

Maybe try surface mount stuff instead of the normal size, easy to use ones.

I understand what they're doing, except for one thing. Where do you install the 200uf cap??

i actually want to use an external battery instead than that of the one in the car already due to the fact that i want to use hi intensity LEDs which are rated at like 3 or 4 volts. Maybe i can put it before the vcc and use a diode or something? im not really sure though since im new to electronics

I'm making my own 'ultimate light mod' with a seperate board and a small picmicro chip on, this board is already made, i just have to assemble it to night and then program the PIC.

For those high intensity thingies use a boost convertor, if you look in bit science there are a few topics one of which is named ''New Dual Cell''

yeh, grab some small transistors, hook up the emitters and collectors in a loop wiht one of the led and the battery. run a wire from teh base (middle pin) to wherever on the pcb like F if ur doing it for the headlights. do the same for each set of lights and run the battery in parallel with all the loops so u only have one power source. i'll make a diagram when i get time, probalby after work tonite

ok, this circuit should work. jus figure out wut value resistor u need to limit the current to the LED. if this is wrong or wutever, plz correct it

if ur referring to my drawing, no, the only connection to the bit's chassis woudl be the base connector on those transistors. other than that, it's a self contained circuit. u could even stick a switch right before or after the battery to disable it
