Failed Attempt at a Dual Cell, Help!
Well, last night I tried to dual cell my Pro, but it didn't work. I used QFM directions, and I made the controller mod. When I charged it up and ran it, it ran like a single cell. So I removed the batteries, but now I have solder on my batteries (how do I get this off?) that makes them look nasty. Plus I melted the chassis a little and that wasn't good. The interesting thing was after I made the controller mod, the charge light still came on when I charged. What is up with the controller, what is up with the batteries, and how do I get solder off of the battries?

In short, be nice to me (it may be hard though through all of my annoyance). Thanks pal!

if you feel lucky and u have a solder remover, you can try to heat up ur soldering iron and heat up the solder and use a solder remover thing to get it off..it should work

That right there is an indication that there's a connection problem between the 2 cells, the led will not come on if all is well with the connections.

if you have a dremel, you can sand it down... that's what i've done in the past.

i suggest running over to radioshack and grabbing copper braid, it's only a couple bucks. place the braid on top of the solder you wanan remove and take your hot iron and heat the top of the copper braid, the solder underneath will quickly melt and get sucked onto the braid. remove the iron and braid quickly so you don't heat the battery too much. as for the dual cell acting as a single cell, i've encountered this twice in a row on two of my dual cell cars. it seems as though i needed to "jump start" the second battery (it always seems to be the second battery i added on, dunno y) but all i did was charge it up once fully and run the car until the charge wears off completely and charge it again. the second or third time you charge it, the second cell should stop acting as a simple connection for your first battery to send energy through and start giving some juice for your car. either that or try to "jump start" the second battery with a quick (less than a minute) charge at 4.5 or 6 volts and try the procedure i jsut described above. it works for me and i've had no problems since

Hey Kwik,
I did the tx mod last night, removing the charge plate wires from the circuit board and soldering directly to the batt terms and when charging, the timer light still comes on and works ?????
And it does charge. It's a clone tx if that makes a difference but what gives? I thought the charge light wouldn't work either after mod is done as per the mod directions.....

interesing, i don't have experience with the clones so it's very well possible! the results that i've gotten we're from the tomy controllers, but bypass may not affect the clones in the same manner...hmmm
thanks for bringing this to our attention DT!

The bypass mod does work on clones. I wouldn't understand why it won't work. This is just like putting the charger directly on a 3 cell or 4 cell battery pack to charge it.

Yes I said it works (does charge). My comment was about the charge light still working after the mod was done. According to the instructions, the charge light is not supose to work after the mod is done because you're bypassing the Tx circuit board. But like I said, my charge light still works in the clone Tx. Now this mod was illustrated on a Bit Tx which may be configured different from a clone Tx. Doesn't matter to me, as long as it charges!
