I just made up a charger last night for my dual battery bit, using a Radio Shack 4AA box and the Bit charging contacts from a controller. The charger sure was a whole lot easier to make than doing the dual bat mod!!! Anyways, I definitely see the importance of the light on the charger. Will any old LED do, and where would it go in the circuit?

Here's the bottom line boys and girls...

You use alkaline batteries, unregulated to charge the batteries in the cars and you're basically way overcooking the little things.

Car batteries are cheap, so if you don't care that you're shortening the lifespan of the car battery, then no big deal. But you also run the risk of MELTING the batteries if not careful.

I suggest getting a universal AC Adapter and use that (the ones with the adjustable voltage). They're regulated for current and voltage and you don't have to waste money on batteries.
