RC Hobbies Show on DIY Network

Have any of you seen this show. It's on the DIY Network on DirecTV. It's hosted by Chris Chianelli who writes for Hobby Merchandiser Magazine and also is creative director for Megatech. I was lucky enuff to meet him at the Hobby show in Chicago last weekend, he was a real nice guy.

Anyway, I asked him when he was planning to do a show on Bits, and he said they were looking into doing just that. They just had a show on Mini Z which I missed. This weeks show is on Radio Control Nitro-Powered Stadium Trucks. I can't wait.

Check the show out, its very cool. The show times are listed on www.diynet.com.

I watched the Mini-Z special last week and it was a tragic disappointment. Chris gave the impression that he knew nothing about Mini-Zs at all. Every mod etc. that he showed was "here's one we made earlier" - there were no useful demonstrations. The show itself was very low quality, lots of dead space, etc., sub-local cable access quality. And the absolute worst thing about it was that the entire 30 minutes was one giant advertisement for Megatech Mini-Z parts, which are the lowest quality, highest priced parts on the market. Don't want to sound like I'm bashing, but don't get your hopes up about the show, as the episode I saw which I had eagerly awaited was a gigantic letdown.

I agree with your take and I passed the same message to Chris when I spoke with him. The production quality of the show is very poor and way too "informercial" like. Since he is the only guy in the industry trying to make a show of this kind, I feel he needs some support and input. When I saw him he was very happy to talk to someone who had seen the show and we sat down and talked for better than an hour, he is a very approachable person and really seemed to listen.

Chris seems to really love the RC biz and I think he would love to hear some feedback, even if he has a motive to sell Megatech products. I have purchased some of their products and I would put them in a class with Radio Shack, they make toys and nothing more.

I'll try and find an email to contact him and in the mean time, give the show a watch. I would still be happy to with a crappy cable RC show than no show at all.

Hey Tiny, maybe thats your calling, a cable TV show. You have done a great job with the web site!
