My painted Skyline.
Well, it's not much.
Just a dirty demolition derby car.

Not bad, its an interesting idea and paint app to say the least. Which Skyline did it used to be and what paint did you use on it?

It used to be the skyline shell that came in the starter kit, 49 mhz blue skyline. I didn't like the dark blue color, so I bought some cans and decided to spray paint it. It's Testors Spray Paint, I believe. I used the light blue color, with white clear coat.

Yup....I cleaned the body thoroughly under hot water (but I did it with the masking tape on, so that must have explained the tape coming off the windows a little. But, after putting on the tape, some of the oils from your hand may come on the body, preventing the paint from sticking.) On SuperSlick and BCG/MS/ZZ bodies, you don't need to use primer, but I hear that Xmods and Mini-Z Bodies are a different story.) I think I need to use a different masking tape, I just used ordinary, plain old masking tape.

I've used primer on BCG/MS bodies as well as Mini Z bodies. I think on ether one you can get away with no primer. I just use the primer because it helps the paint stick better and to seal the surface as well. Just on a BCG/MS I try to lay the primer as thin as I can, just one or two quick coats. And on Mini Z's I lay it on about three coats, so I can sand it smoother.
The only RS car bodies that I worked with are the cheaper RC cars and I've had all kinds of problems with painting those (not XMODS or ZipZaps), like the paint attacking the plastic. I have a few that look like a road map. And yes I used primer to keep that from happening, it still did it.
