A little observation....
Both Zip and Motorworks have purple motors.
Zip motor has 6 teeth, Motorworks has 8.
Zip red middle gear has 18 teeth, Motorworks has 20.
Zip red axle gear and Motorworks both have 22 teeth.
The motors are interchangable, but thed gears are not. The motorworks diameter is too large to fit in the Zip chassis.
10 Race drag test across 20 foot stretch.
Zip Zap Evo
Purple motor, red gears.
Dale Jr. Motorworks
Purple motor, white stock gears.
Both on new batteries in controllers.
Both cars were almost a dead heat, but about 6 out of 10 times, the Motorworks seemed to have just a tad bit more acceleration off the line, but that could be my reaction time.

Yes Jester.com, they were in the toy section, in the RC cars and Models isle to be more specific. The ones I found were mixed in with the rest of the motorworks

if they do have a wider turning radius its because the wheel base is bigger than a Zip or Bit Char-G

other possible reasons could be the wider front tires, different tire compound (hardness), or just plain different steering setup altogether.

They have both the Legacy car and the #3 car. I found this when I was down at flatlander14's Wal Mart this weekend.
Also, these are liscensed by NASCAR.

Wow...nice find! Unfortunately, it looks like you could paint a billboard on the side of these things they're so thick! I wonder what the wheelbase is in comparison to the new Motoworks Nascars...their chassis is so thin, maybe a body mod like you said and a Nascar chassis might get me close, hmmmm.

Well I broke down and bought me one of these nascars. I'm really impressed. I like the way they set up the chassis, easily modifiable. Motor is excellent and I'll go with ahh5hit that not only does it look like the zips nx motor but acts like it too. The chassis is perfect for 1/64 diecast bodies no more stretching.
I had to promise (empty ofcourse) the wife no more micros until zz2.0 but I fear that the muscle machines rc will be out soon.
Now I gotta go and do some gear swapping and chip away at the glue so I can get a triple layman's inthere.

I just bought one of these today. Very nice. The one I got was the last one on the shelf. It had been dropped or something as the case was cracked. If not for this, it probably would have been gone too. Amazing how fast these went when the shelf is still full of the other MW cars. The setup is pretty cool. Plenty of torque and speed. I think the motor IS the Zip purple motor. The endcap design, especially the power contact point looks exactly the same as the Zip motor. The motor has a snap in heat sink too. Which makes me wonder if they are going to offer other motors or not. I got a 27Mhz model, so range isn't the best. Tires are good and sticky, which was a relief after the Awesome brand. I'm not sure about the steering yet. Seems kinda sluggish, but I haven't had a lot of time to check it out yet. Looks like a great modding plartform. The wheelbase is longer than a Zip and the quality seems very good. I'd recommend trying one if you get a chance. The wife just gave me THAT look when I pulled it out of the shopping bag. No problem though, I think I can take her.
