hmmm...well I'm not sure how much insurance is going to be but if you get the Spec V (not V-spec ) I'm willing to wager it'd be a might expensive...just a guess though. As far as the SE-R Spec V itself goes though...after reading up on it and it's capable QR25DE powerplant it seems to be a very very sweet little ride! For the price...it's hard to beat. Runs around 17 to 20 grand if I remember correctly. Has 175? HP w/ 180 lbs of torque (of course that's max...175 HP at I believe 6000 RPM and 180 lbs of torque at 4000 RPM...rpm limiter kicks in at 6200 RPM...could be wrong on all this, need to go back and reread). As a first car all I can say is....dang I wish this woulda been MY first car! LOL (I'd also like to add it get pretty good gas milage as well...although despite getting good gas milage it uses premium fuel only...which is something to consider) I'm honestly considering this as a viable purchase myself....though honestly I'm still leaning towards my xB. (no offense) But I will say that it definitely has a lot more HP potential than the xB (by a LARGE margin). Overall it looks like a really cool little car! I'd say if you can swing it, go for it! Then mod the sucker!

well, we're here.. the freaks

hmm takumi, i would REALLY, REALLY say wait. or go something cheaper.. i know it hurts, and i know you dont wanna do it, but... think about it this way... ur car's costing you 27Gs, canadian dollars... but that is one hell of a nice car... i personally think the styling's a little bland, but hey, ur talkin to a guy who wants green/gold paint and a blitz bodykit...

basically, what shadowmage said... im too lazy to look up the stuff, and i got an exam 2morro, so im not gonna try...

reason for waiting tho: my insurance for a celica is 9Gs... Canadian... you know how much that hurts? ooo it hurts... 3 years, and i could buy the car all over again. i repeat, 3 years of insurance = about 27Gs...

aand.. if you crash teh sucker, you be crying while looking for a building to jump off of... i been waiting for a celica 4 years now, and i seen my share of smashed ones... hurts, even if it;s not my car... lol

if ur parents let you buy the car, and u can pay off the money, as well as the insurance, go for it. nothing sweeter than being 16 and having a car that will rape non-gt mustangs... but be warned man, ur dropping HUGE money,..... (wait 3 years, you got the money for an S2000, M3, IS300)..... GOOD lucky tho!!

Very good info on the engine...some stuff is over my head a bit but still lots of good info on the QR25DE itself (not necessarilly on the sentra).

can i make a quick suggestion. for you're first car u should start with a real POS and get more driving under you're belt so if u run into something (fence, other cars, ect...) u just say fukit and keep going and not get all upset. a buddy of mine who lives on a farm just outta town has a 92 mustang GT right and he love's that car to death he has been driving grain trucks and stuff since he was like 2 or something so he has lotsa driving xperience. wel back to the story he has his car park'd for the winter and is driving his dads truck it was very warm about 3 weeks ago and he decided to take his mustang for a spin (literaly) uninsured and do some doughnuts on the little road outside his place. he ended up putting it into the overflowing waterfill'd ditch and is interior is gone so he's now driving some little sunfire. had he been driving some little sbox car it wouldn't have mattered much. i say get the car u want after school when u have a little more money and more drivn xperience.

this $0.02 has been brought to u by wd-40.

Time for my $.02

so i figure by your screen name that you want to drift, which takes alot of money for repairs and stuff untill you get good, so with that you could try to find and old corolla or something with rear wheel. If you want to go for grip style driving, try to find an old MR2, my friend just got a first gen and it rocks the house like none other. If you want to go for high speed/crusing dominance, i vote for a used M3 E36, pretty cheep for a good car only because some have alot of miles on them and the owners want to get the new model (E46) so yea, if you can find any of those cheep look into them. I just dont want to start a flaming war.
