Motor Compatibility for ZipZaps

Hi guys, i'm new to the scene here, but not new to the format that message boards follow.

I noticed that the Bit CharG cars have a compatibility list of what motors will work with their MiniRC's. I have been reading threads and doing searches and noticed no such thing for the ZipZaps. They did say that the motors off a zipzap will work with modification on the BitCharG, so does that mean their motors will work with a zipzap.

I just got a Gold Honda Civic with the updated board, and wanna put it to use. the 16,000 motor isn't quick enough for me
I would also like to know the best place to get these motors, i noticed that the place that used to have the 2.6 and 2.8's don't carry them anymore

Thanks guys, i hope to enjoy my stay here at the TinyRC.com boards, this seems like a real fun community.

Welcome spada.
To answer some of your questions. Most microsizer/bit char-g motors will work in zips, upto a 2.6 works fine in my experiance. The higher end motors need more voltage inorder to run them properly which the zip pcb just doesn't supply. You could do a pcb swap or add a bat or two to the car to remedy that. The dks 2.6 is an excellent motor and it's to bad they were discontinued, I wish I had picked up more. I found that the 1.6 in a triple cell zip is perfect.
I hope this helped some.

To correct sessiz10 a little...The ZipZaps PCB has (or had, depending on the PCB revision) a bit to much current resistance and so higher current requirement motors choke.

You mentioned that you bought a Gold Civic, which is rumored to have the updated PCB board and less resistance and therefore should be able to handle the higher RPM motors.

Size wise, the ZipZaps Motors are slightly bigger than the Bit Motors and that's why there was debate on whether the ZZ motors would work on a Bit (they DO, because I can make them work with mine)...But putting a Bit motor into a ZipZaps is NO PROBLEM (again, we're talking size wise)

Thanks, and now my quest for a motor and lower gear ratio begins.

damn, i hate being such a newbie, but i wanna buy this for the bit char-g's....

MicroSizers Wheel and Gear Tuning Set

that along with the BitChar-GMotors 2.6 Motor

i just wanted to know if the gear set would also work with the ZipZaps. my instincts tell me yes, it will work perfect, but i'm just checkin with the experts first.
