Want a Nakamichi Racer?

Alot of you have had trouble finding the Nakamichi racers Theres a guy on Ebay who has a lot of em and sells em for like 9.99 each + shipping. I just got a sportster from him and this thing is off the charts fast in turbo mode. What I really like is the controller which fits so comfortably in the hand and the controls are smooth.. 'no clicking' Wish I could just use this for every car. He has two models
the sport vehicle, which comes in yellow and red, and the suv, that comes in blue, grey and red. If you run a search on Ebay for Nakamichi racer you'll see he has several of em for sale. I told him I was gonna tell the group about his cars so you might try contacting him directly at JJAKSHSCRD@aol.com like I did and you could probably get the exact model and color you want. Many payment options incld. pay pal are accepted. And tell em MST3KPIMP sent 'ya.

Well I was able to control my 49mhz Z-car with the controller but the range was greatly reduced.. Perhaps its the whip antenna. Might have to upgrade.

Just emailed him and asked for four of them. Thanks for the email and post. I've been dying to get my hands on one.

Joe seems like a really cool guy. If you don't buy them off of Ebay they're $11 + shipping. I ordered 4...one of each body. Can't pass up this deal! Wasn't the Home Shopping Network selling these for $30?

why arnt they the most popular car out there? Or do people just get em for their parts?

Because they're not able to be upgraded very easily. The rear axle is fixed and the motor is hard wired in. The motor is also glued in place. The chassis is screwed to the body. The PCB is as big as the one in my PC. I could go on for hours why the chassis sucks, but I'll just say that it's totally worth the $$$ just for the parts

He charged me $53 for all four body styles. $9 for the shipping. Not bad for four cars. I'm assuming he charges around $2.25 for shipping just one order. Well worth it when you think of what everyone else was/is charging for these cars.

I don't think so . Oh well my friend's little bro has one of them, and the rims really do kick ass. And the thing is a monster, on or off the carpet.

I'm assuming a big reason the NR goes so fast is due to the two cells which are actually placed upright and towards the front of the car instead of the rear. For those who have used both, is the NR's speed comparitive to a 2cell mod bit? I can't imagine the motor on the NR is anything special. A neat feature is that the fixed rear wheels have very little play makeing me wonder if thats the way it should be. The thing I dont like is the way the NR's circuit board and delicate steering wires are all exposed when you remove the body, looks like a calculator on wheels. I really want to get into the steering section and do some tweaking but the the way the wires are layed out scares me too much. Anyone have luck taking off the circuit board?

Ya I took the dive and took off the circuit board, I could see one of the plastic latches cracking which I later reinforced it with a little kevlar thread. The top to the front steering end has no screw holding it down but is a clip on piece.. I opened it not by prying the clips towards the front as they seemed vulnerable but by pushing on the nubs that attach nearest the battery.. Everything inside as far as knuckles and steering parts look interchangable with a bit. I had to tweak the spring a little as i was getting extreme right turns. After I reassembled it I got scared as I could not get it to charge again but soon realized that when I lifted up the circuit board I pulled out the two bottom slilver tabs so the chargers tabs could not make contact. A little repositioning with a pin and I was back in buisness. This car is quite noisy espc. in turb-mode.. Have to try some lube. It also shakes when going fast. I wonder if springs might help.
