My stand-alone charger...
Ok, I want to make a stand-alone charger, but I don't want to rip the charger part out of one of my controllers. I want to make it completely by myself, but I don't know how. I would have to make my own charge connection for my car. I experimented with a design already, but it won't work! I need some help people!

Hey! Thanx for the sites! The QFM one, I've seen it before, and it isn't the kind I want to make. It has the charger attatchment off of the remote, and the second link didn't work.

Why don't you want to take the piece off the controller?

All you need are two small metal contact points sticking up that are spaced the proper distance for the contact points on the bottom of the car. Two small screws would work. If you went to QFM and clicked on the link to the AC Bit charger, you noticed that they used two screws as their contact points.

I made the two contact points, and they fit in the car charge things. But, I didn't have anything to stick them together. If I were to solder them together, then the charger wouldn't work. I tried the screw one, and I am still working on it, but I have my doubts if it works.

you're how old?
just copy the way the stock charger works. or do something similar. take your two charge contacts and screw them into a piece of plastic.

well id let u in on a little secret of mine
ripper inspired me on this 1
.
so far my track is a wooden box measured 2m by 1.5m. and 1.3m high
its like a box off the ground with a shelf in it the shelves contain my differnet track which i can just slot on the top, then take them off when im done and use it like a table .
well anyway at the side of my track im working on a project spending alot of money on clones!
----------------------------------
l l thats kinda what it looks like from
---------------------------------- side view if u pull the shelf door down
---------------------------------- notice the compartments at the top.
----------------------------------
----------------------------------
----------------------------------
on top of the top left compartment is my car park / charge base.
ive made a line of
--------------
l :
l-------------
l :
l-------------
l :
l-------------
about 12 of them so i can place my cars on them including my zip zaps. around 4-7 of them are made from bit clone or spare controller bases, others are made from to metal nails, each unit hooked upto 4 aaa batteries. works great so far , ive built 3 sections.
once i totally finish my track and get my camera ill post pics.i can just drive my cars on them and they charge i dont have to click them on ... cool hey?
any1 i gotta carry on building , i need some damn batteries and battery holders!!!

I am using a Wal-Mart Motor Works charger. The bit does not lock down but it will charge the battery alright. I wouldn't buy the Motor Works just for the charger, but it is a thought.

I might be able to get you one. I think they cost around $12 each. Where would this be shipping? I will need to know so that I can let you know how much shipping will be.

Very cool idea tarnjit! I would definitely try your idea, but I only have 2 cars! I think I will do the same thing, but just make about 3 or 4 small sections out of wood, and make them snap together. If anyone has a slotcar track, that's kinda the idea I'm shooting for. (the way that the pieces of track go together, and the electrical current still goes through)
