When is a bit no longer a bit?

Perhaps I'm getting a bit carried away with this... When I started, I had the intention of just moving the rear axel back so a Hot Wheels car would be able to fit on it. Now its getting to the point where I'm actually building a new frame for the guts so it sits lower as a whole and (if I can find some small enough cogs) mount the motor centraly to avoid thoes annoying pulls to the right.

Back to my original question, how many mods do you have to make to a bit before it's no longer a bit but rather a custom micro R/C?

Rhetorical question, really. I need to boost my post count somehow and adding an 'I agree' to other people's posts is a lame way of doing that.

thats a neat idea....if u were to mount the internals of a bit on a hot wheels chassis..
but those things are hard to take apart, because of the metal body mounts...

Well, the mounting posts were kinda hard to remove without damaging the body, but I think the most damage I did was when I washed the body out in the sink to get the filings out of it.

Here's a question for everyone. Maybe I can get some enlightenment...

As I said, I was wanting to mount the motor in a more central location and the best way I see that to happen is to mount it where the pinion gear is pointing to the rear of the car, but how do I route the power to the axel? (I hope this question is clear, I'm confused.)

Slot cars! Perfect! Thanks, Mr Freeze! I can't believe I didn't think of that. I just hope I can find the right gear ratio... I'll let you all know how well it works.
