mod for bit suspensions
I had an idea which i think worked for the performance in handling.but i think it made my bits steering wider which i think is goods so it wont spin out during fast turns. This mod is for cars with 2.6 or higher. Its very simple, just put a spacer in between the base of of the chassis and the lower tip of the steering joint. You get what i mean?Sorry guys i dnt hav a digicam. You can use a plastic spacer from the ac mini 4wd.and sand it until its about 2mm in height. This way your cars front wheels wont drop down when its not touching the ground and at the same time improve your cars performance.coz ther is lesser play in the suspensions.I hope this helps. :

carver, could you perhaps make a diagram? I'm not entirely clear on where you are suggesting to put the spacer?

Sounds similiar to what we do over at the mini-z place. Putting a spacer on the bottom of the king pin.

thats what im trying to say.actually u can use any kind of spacer as long as it wont be too tight for the steering.coz wen its too tight u cant steer at all.and i wud like to correct myself its less than 1 mm in height.as soon as i get a digicam ill post some pics for u guys

Great, but I have already lowered the body on my bit, so don't have any room to lower it on the kingpins as well

I only lowered the body, not the chassis.
The tab on the front of the car, I snapped it off and glued it back, but lower.
It the rear I used some modelling putty and sealed up the slot and cut a new one higher up.
Crude I know, but I am gonna customize the body anyway.
In the gallery there is a pic of just the front lowered.

wow thats alot of work..but wouldnt that make the car heavier?im very particular with the weight coz it affects the speed.Im really not into looks but more on the performance..although if looks and performance can go well together why not?!

Butler, I lowered my body also but, I recut the new slots in the body. I used a small circular cutter on my Dremel to cut the front of my RX7 above the radiator opening but, not all the way through and cut the rear opening upward and then filled in the original with some basswood, feathered it in with some putty, had to open up the wheel wells some for more tire clearance. It sits about .050" lower now and not as 4X4 looking. Just about finished with the painting and I'll post a pic when it's all done. Also, made it into a drop top with no spoiler, painted in pearl yellow. All"s I need to is to finish up the interior and driver.
