I have Mini Z's and I ordered a dNano..
I have not driven dNano yet but.... If I had to choose...
I don't want to choose. I want both! But I can tell you Mini Z f1 has been my favorite Mini Z car. It is harder to drive on a tight technical track because of longer wheelbase than Mini Z racers but I just love formula 1 anything! I hope Kyosho makes dNano f1's soon.
dNano comes with 2.4 ghz, which is a newer technology compared to the AM radio frequency transmitters. You will be able to use the same transmitter for future Mini Z cars as long as they are 2.4 ghz.
If you buy Mini Z with AM radio first then you will have to buy 2.4 radio for dNano in the future.

I have both and if I had to choose I'd go Mini-z.
Mini-z has:
- more bodies with more detailed elements
- more tuning options for more competitive racing
- a variety of platforms, 2wd, 4wd, F1
- costs less
That being said the dnano performs very well and if you're really strapped for space for a track maybe a better option.

7 years mean the Mini Z's have withstood the test of time like the 1/10 scale cars. I would be more worried about dNano being just a short lived fad. I don't race either anyway so it doesn't matter as much as long as I can find the parts. But 2.4 ghz is the way of the future for certain.

Are you going to be racing the car? Is there a race track in your area? Do they race both Mini Z and dNano?
If there is no track, do you have room in your house where you can setup your own track? There is no way you can unleash all the speed/power/handling of a Mini Z in your house. But you will be able to get closer to the limit of a dNano.
Howerver, there is very limited parts support in the US for dNano.
I would go with a Mini Z....

I would look for the best deal on MR02 to keep the budget low and see how you like these small scale RC cars.
If you like it and still would like to try dNano then save up money for it. dNano costs $250 (car, Tx, charger, battery). Bearings are $30.
