Wow,
I just spent an hour.
used the ends of big zip ties.
I use a pushpin and my pocket knife to make holes.
I hit walls at full speed and they didnt break
So sweet

I guess I should measure and mark and cut some out BEFORE I break mine because I know its just a matter of time.

breaking micro-t
I've broken mine 9 times so far. I broke 4 steering rods, a shock, the lower rear control arm mount, and the front control arm mount. How you ask? HAVING FUN! love this car. parts aren't too expensive or nothin! just waiting for graphite items since all the parts are so darn small, I figure they'll be able to make almost the whole thing out of graphite... sweeeeet... if that happens though, we'll need to put a weight on it so the tires get traction, lol.

Unfortunately, mine are still in the box waiting for Christmas.
As far as the broken steering rods and tie rods, how about using an old credit card? I have used an old credit card to replace the H-bar on the bottom of my mini-z. Its never broken since. You know how hard it is to break a credit card in half!

good idea!
That's an awesome idea about the credit card. Credit cards are a totally different type of plastic or something. Someone once told me it was a fibrous plastic like some sort of nylon plastic or something, who knows. but that's an awesome idea too, since it's thin, light, cuts easily... I think I'm gonna make some like that. I'll show you guys how the steering arms break/where the stresses are once I figure out how to post a pic here. I used a clear plastic that turns white when bent, and each steering arm is white in the same spot (mirror). Don't bother buying the new "hop up" on e-bay for the steering arm, it's not worth it when you can make it for free.

the pic
here's a REAL up close and personal view. Sorry about the craptastic image, my digital camera can't (or I don't know how) do macro shots. as you can see, the stress is to the inner-middle of the steering arm. it's the same on the other side. Regardless of the part, the FIRST hop-up you should get is ball bearings for the wheels, and the first after market hop up they need to make is a heat-sink motor guard, cuz if you run it for the full battery life, it gets HOT HOT HOT. anywho, have fun guys, and as you can see, it's really not that hard to make your own parts. If you want me to, I can do an illustrative guide for how to make steering arms for FREE... F R E E. as in, don't be fooled by e-bay.

I'll have to make a chassis.
aluminum chassis but its the suspension links I'm concerned about and locking the diff and the trans output shafts.
I have so many projects waiting on me that I cant hardly stand it but soon I'll have 12 days off for the holidays so I'll try to get some stuff done.
Here is another/different body that I could use, any thoughts anyone.

Got the micro for x-mas and so far have not broke anything. New to the R/c thing, although I have been playing w/ a nylint crawler for a while. The micro is IMO a great little toy. I was wondering if anyone has set up a small track (indoor or out) and if so what materials were used. I was considering buying some cheap outdoor carpet and forming some burms and whoop-de-doos in my back yard. Anyway, glad to have found this board!
